Punjab Government to Introduce IELTS Training Program in ITIs

Punjab Government initiated to provide IELTS coaching in government ITIs(Industrial Training Institutes) and Polytechnics. The Punjab Government and the Cambridge University Press India have signed the Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) aiming to teach quality education to the students of the state. The free IELTS coaching would generate employment in the private sector, foreign sector, and study abroad. This will also include a skill training program that will incorporate soft skill training, self-employment, entrepreneurship skills, and counseling and coaching for competitive examinations.

Objective Behind Introducing IELTS Coaching

The MoU aims to provide job opportunities to over 40,000 aspirants. This training will be provided by certified trainers. The objective is to save the youth from paying heavy amounts of fees to the private coaching centers.

According to a survey conducted by the government, around six lakhs aspirants take IELTS preparation every year. The increase in the number of aspirants on a regular basis is making Punjab, leading state for abroad migration for education purposes or jobs. The government aspires to establish a Foreign Study and Placement Cell to facilitate the migration of candidates through valid and genuine pathways to foreign countries through a very powerful system of District Bureaus of Employment and Enterprise (DBEEs).

The Government of Punjab further claims to provide TOEFL and PTE coaching along with IELTS.

Cambridge University to conduct IELTS Test for Trainers in ITIs 

The Government initiated with Cambridge University to conduct an IELTS exam for all English teachers. The teachers in government ITIs and polytechnics who score well, nearly eight bands in the IELTS exam, will be appointed as trainers for IELTS coaching. This way the test-takers would get training from the well-trained and certified IELTS trainers. Hence, saving a huge amount of IELTS training fees from the private institutes.
