 Prepositions in IELTS writing task 1 are necessary as candidates are required to describe a diagram or a chart. Prepositions play an important role in writing an essay in the IELTS test. Thus, IELTS writing task 1 requires candidates to use a lot of propositions. The preceding article will portray two exercises from IELTS writing task 1 that will undertake the usage of preposition for IELTS. Exercise 1: Diagram

You have 20 minutes to complete this task.
Write at least 150 words.
The diagram below shows how Olive Oil is manufactured.

The above mentioned diagram demonstrates the process by which Olive Oil is manufactured. To elaborate, this is a process involving several different steps comprising of 7 stages in the process. The process begins with picking the olives by the farmers and ending with acts of storing and selling.

To commence the process, ripe olives are acquired by plucking them from the trees by farmers. Followed by this, the olives are then rinsed with cold water in the rinsing machine. Furthermore, followed by this step, the wolves are transferred to another machine for the purpose of crushing via the conveyor belt. This process is considered in order to divide into Olive paste and Olive stones. The Olive stones are then separated.

After that, the produced Olive paste is transferred in a perforated bag and is further put into a pressing machine. After accomplishing this process, it is put into another machine. This is done in order to remove excess amounts of water and separate Oil alone into bottles. Upon separation, the processed Olive oil is transferred into bottles, packed and delivered to supermarkets, grocery stores, etc. These shops and stores then are responsible for selling the packaged Olive oil.

Exercise 2: Chart

Write a report describing the information in the graph below.

The line graph shown above portrays the Gold Sales in the year 2002 in Dubai. It can be concluded from the above graph that gold sales have been at peak in the month of March. It is evident from the above image that it reached 350 million Dirham. Nevertheless, it is also seen, sales were at lowest in the months of July and September for an approximate value of 100-150 million Dirham.

It is evident from the above graph that in the month of January 2002, the sales were at their peak with a value of 200million Dirham. Moreover, there was a stable rise in sales of gold, the value touched to an average amount of 220-240 million in the month of February. There was a major rise in the value to an exact amount of 350 million Dirham in March that witnessed the highest sale of the concerned year. However, post the month of March, it can be seen that the values started drooping and reached a value of 100-150 million Dirhams. The least amount of sales was witnessed in the month of July. Furthermore, it can be concluded from the above figure that there has been a small fluctuation from the month of July to September to the same amount as of July in September. There has been a major increase in sales in the month of October. Followed by this month, the sales were stable until December with minimal amount of fluctuations.
