Plagiarism means copying someone’s work without their consent. It has become a significant issue in educational background. Different countries possess different rules and regulations regarding copyright and intellectual property right issues.
Some countries like the USA, Canada, UK maintain a strict set of instructions regarding infringement of IPR whereas countries like Vietnam are a bit lenient regarding plagiarism. The scenario in India is not very impressive either. Some educational institutes show hostility towards plagiarised work whereas some are unconcerned about it. Here many photocopy shops print or copy the entire book set without facing any legal consequences. Students’ dissertation projects can be found at these xerox shops which can be easily bought by other students. Some universities do not even run a plagiarism check on the projects submitted by scholars. Social media platforms add cherries to the cake as they hardly care about IP rights and their infringement.

With increasing social media and easily accessible internet, everything can be found on World Wide Web. Even when we search for a quote or a verse on Google, we see so many images of the same personality with the same quote. This is what plagiarism is. Students copying their articles and essays from the internet should be disbarred from giving the examination. If this strictness is followed then only they will learn from an early age. This threat will hang over the heads of organizations and countries until a final stand is taken. With advancing technology it will become more difficult to tackle. Hence, preventive measures should be taken right now, as it is said- “The sooner the better”.

Due to an immense amount of circulation of plagiarized articles, authorities have started securing their works through patents and copyrights. The maximum amount of plagiarism is found across intellectual property rights and solutions, and the only way to curb every possibility of plagiarism is by censuring them.
The matter of plagiarism holds absolute significance in one place and is completely trivial in another place. For instance, Vietnam is a place where plagiarism holds a place of meaninglessness and the students are also apprehensive about the fact that copyright is just a showpiece. The photocopy shops are very much acquainted with printing or copying without having the slightest anguish about legal repercussions. In fact, the students are instructed to not bring up unique ideas and learn new things but follow what previous work has been produced on that particular topic. Putting forward an even more popular issue - Facebook. Facebook is a place that doesn’t follow IP policies and this has led to legal exploitation.
