Band 8 IELTS Essay

As the worry over managing electronic personal data storage continues to grow, some people might have suggested that cloud storage always has a benefit. Nevertheless, this essay will give several reasons why I am firmly convinced that electronic data processing negatively affects businesses.

Firstly, there are people who may put forth the idea that converting to electronic data provides numerous benefits. Electronic storage of data needs fewer resources like paper, ink for printing, devices needed for print and human work force required to arrange those printed documents in a corporation setting. As result, profit can be maximized by storing all this information using computer systems instead. In addition, cutting down on using natural elements contributes towards creating ecologically balanced corporations which portray an environment friendly image thus making their brand image more appealing among public audiences. Therefore, those corporations can benefit from the activated implementation of electronic information storage.

Even with the above-mentioned reasons, I strongly stand by my belief that this trend will eventually bring about decline in our society over time. Agreeing to some extent with prior views and transitioning to counter arguments can shed light on a different viewpoint. The dependence of people's personal information on computers makes them vulnerable to cybercrimes as it increases hacking attempts into a company’s databases by internet criminals. For example, the hacking of Naver, Korea's most famous online search engine, exposed personal data of 240,000 people. This put them at risk for identity theft and voice phishing crimes. It should be noted that there is a high possibility to incur substantial financial loss from such hacks and losing customers' trust can greatly affect any business.

To sum up, there are people who believe that cloud storage in computers has more advantages. However, I firmly think we need to pay more attention to the problems faced by others for gaining long-lasting benefits.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

In the modern world, technologies are getting better day by day. Also, individual user's data is stored within services provided by various organizations and companies. This method of storage has its own advantages and disadvantages.

Based on the advantages, keeping customer's data can aid businesses in operating more swiftly and efficiently. For instance, in past times, medical facilities had to look for patient's information across multiple locations. This type of search used to take a very long time. But now, in clinics, all data about patients are stored in the digital cloud which is unique for each hospital. This technology assists doctors to quickly access disease history and thus aids humans.

Furthermore, there is no requirement for notebooks or diaries as all the necessary data can be stored on servers for an extended period. For example, banks offer digital accounts which provide customers with their entire purchase history and even calculate their finances automatically. But, these services have a downside which is the risk of important data getting leaked. Like now, many hackers are there who can invade digital clouds and gather information about bank accounts among other things.

In conclusion, the alterations brought about by the technology era in terms of storing information on computers have their own pros and cons. I believe that the advantages surpass the disadvantages because these changes in data storage make our lives easier with quicker access to personal information.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

In these modern times, businesses and groups utilize computers to keep personal data. Adopting this method carries both advantages and disadvantages. This essay aims to talk about its good points as well as downsides. I believe disadvantages outruns the advantages present in this storing process.

First, storing personal data provides significant benefits. It allows organizations and businesses to develop products that are useful for individuals because such information includes details like health history, interests, family background among others. Using this data to create new business proposals or providing it to communities aids in strengthening the economy of a country. On the other hand, permitting companies to keep personal details results in problems and makes people susceptible. Also, it's crucial to ensure safety of such vast amounts of data. People with admin rights can access this information freely. For example, this information can be stolen by hackers for financial profit. Businesses might also give it to unsuitable people in exchange for money. The data could then be used to blackmail the intended person, threaten their life or infiltrate them deeply which may result in an unforeseen outcome of their lives.

I think that keeping personal data in a business can be risky and harmful. For example, cinema ticket booths at the shopping centre gather customer phone numbers when booking film tickets. After this, the team who collected it could sell this information to call centres where they use it for promotional purposes such as insurance, bank loans or credit card offers. Because bank is connected with the telephone number, it's simple for them to get specific individual credit report details. They have the ability to constantly call about their offers.

In conclusion, providing personal information to a company may benefit individuals in certain ways. However, the potential exposure and risk of this data can jeopardize an individual's safety. Therefore, I think that the drawbacks surpass the benefits.
