Despite the benefits described, I believe that the hard copies will still be used occasionally for a few reasons that I shall explain.
On the one hand, there is growing evidence that consumers are drawn to read publications that are available online. In this regard, a sizable number of websites have been developed to offer readers online content, such as books, newspapers, magazines, and so on. And their annual visitor numbers are increasing. The benefits described above have also led to a decline in the amount of printed publications. For instance, the percentage of well-known US publishers' online publishing increased from 40% 10 years ago to 70% this year.
On the contrary, they do not appear to be overwhelming their former adversaries due to a number of unavoidable complications involved with online material. They require using a digital device that is not always and everywhere accessible. Additionally, using a monitor or a phone to read would be difficult for persons with disabilities. Not to mention that many traditional and outdated individuals still value the nostalgia of reading printed materials. For instance, older folks who have read printed books for a long time dislike reading them on tablets and digital book readers.
