Band 8 IELTS Essay
Paying taxes is required by law and regarded as a civic duty in most nations. However, there are drawbacks that make some individuals or businesses attempt to evade or deduct the tax they must pay. Some people argue that taxation is unfair and that they should be allowed to keep all of their legitimate income because they fight for it every minute. In this essay, we will discuss both the views with reasons and justification.
In addition to reducing individual workers' motivation, high taxes have the potential to penalize hard work. However, the situation that is more concerning is that with all of the money paid by taxpayers, the government also could misuse or even become corrupt. In this instance, it is preferable for them to keep the money for themselves rather than anyone else. It is a legitimate claim that I am earning the money by working hard and it is my right to keep it. Hence, the people who have this view cannot be blamed. They really work hard to make their ends meet and support their family. Even 1% of their income is huge for them. In that case, paying 10% taxes is not justified.
On the other hand, people argue that taxes are a crucial source of revenue for the government and the country. They are in charge of building a strong nation and providing essential public services. The services include education, healthcare, the police, and many others that are crucial to the well-being of every citizen. The government also needs money to run the government. If there were no taxpayers, there would be no money to pay government employees. Without this revenue, there would be no organization to run the country, which would probably jeopardize national security. As a result, each and every taxpayer should be responsible for paying their taxes.
I believe that citizens who are able to pay taxes should pay their taxes to the government. They should provide our government with the resources it needs to protect our nation as a whole and improve our personal quality of life. However, these resources must be properly utilized and cannot be abused by incompetent officials.
Band 7 IELTS Essay
Some people argue that the government shouldn't tax people because they should use all of their earnings for their own needs. I disagree with this idea because taxation is a means by which the government provides essential services and infrastructures. This ensures equality in many societies.
Equality is one of the primary advantages of taxation. This means that there is a tax bracket for each genre of people and income. To put it another way, people in many nations pay taxes in proportion to their earnings. As a result, people with higher incomes pay more taxes to the government, while seniors and people with lower incomes, with a few exceptions, pay less. Luxury goods, for example, are subject to a high tax in many nations, but individuals who do not have a regular income are exempt from certain taxes. As a result, society has become more equitable. Let us take the example of working professionals. In India, the government has allowed no tax for people earning below 2.5 lakhs. There is a certain amount they need to pay if they earn 2.5 to 5 lakhs. The person earning above 5 lakhs needs to pay 20% of the total income that is more than Rs.5 lakh. Hence, it becomes easier for lower income people to pay less or no taxes.
In addition, infrastructure development and the provision of essential services necessitate taxes. This is because the majority of governments use tax revenue to pay for these public services and infrastructures. For instance, the tax revenue that the government receives is used to pay for social services, health care, and security in many nations. Therefore, the government would not be able to develop public infrastructure or pay for essential services if it did not receive tax revenue.
In conclusion, I disagree with the notion that individuals should pay tax rather than keep their income. Taxation is the primary means by which governments fund public services and infrastructures and ensures equanimity in many nations. The promotion of these qualities should be encouraged.
Band 6.5 IELTS Essay
Some people are of the opinion that residents should be allowed to keep all of their earnings and should not be required to pay taxes to the government. I personally disagree with the statement and think that taxes are paid for a reason. The following essay will go into detail about how taxes benefit residents and the nation as a whole.
First and foremost, the government uses taxes to help develop our own country. Taxes are used to pay for a variety of important things. First, they are used to replace outdated public transportation units and expand and maintain public transportation facilities like roads and highways. Second, taxes are used to provide residents with adequate medical care and basic education. Taxes are used to import things and build infrastructure for public benefit. Last but not least, taxes are also used to pay for the military, which is important for keeping a country's politics stable.
Then, individuals ought to be aware that the taxes they have paid will also benefit them in the future. A portion of the funds collected by tax authorities are put toward retirement savings. It indicates that, in the end, people will enjoy and benefit from some personal government facilities that are funded by taxes. As a result, individuals should pay their tax obligations and refrain from keeping their earnings private.
Some people do not keep in mind these benefits before saying that they will not pay taxes. Everyone has got a right to save their own hard earned money. They need to meet their daily needs. This is the reason there is a tax bracket for income from zero to 10 lakhs and above.
I disagree that we should keep all of our earnings and not pay any taxes to the government because taxes are good for people's and nation's development.
