Topic: Some people think that when a person travels into a different culture they should adapt to the local practices and customs. To what extent do you agree?

Model Answer 1

Some people believe that we should adopt and embrace a foreign country's habits and practices when we travel there. It is OK, in my opinion, to adapt to a different culture. It shouldn't, however, come at the expense of our own culture. According to me, one should only adopt aspects of a foreign culture that you find acceptable and comfortable.
Only if one finds the foreign way of living, or other customs enjoyable should one attempt to adopt them while travelling to or relocating to other nations. Nothing should be done merely for the sake of fitting in. To prevent someone from offending, it is crucial to thoroughly learn the symbols, gestures, and heritage of a foreign nation before travelling there.
Accepting a different culture and way of life improves strong interpersonal relationships and serves as a symbol of respect for the new community. To earn the support of the Indians living in America, for instance, contenders for the American presidency frequently mention how much they like Indian culture. This is so because, as people, we naturally gravitate toward others who share our culture and values. Thus, respect for various cultures helps people of different races and ethnicities establish strong bonds with one another.
An individual should respect the customs of the nation he visits, but they should not be forced to abandon their own. People should have the opportunity to select the best way of life for themselves, since every location has its own religious and cultural traditions. Additionally, it promotes harmony among the numerous ethnic groups coexisting. For instance, India is a nation where many religious groups practise their respective religions and speak their own languages. Giving everyone the freedom to choose their way of life helps to maintain a peaceful society in such a nation.
To sum up, adhering to another culture's rituals and ideologies is a positive way to demonstrate your love and acceptance of them. But it should be optional rather than a requirement for tourists. Only when everyone freely chooses to respect one another's traditions can affection and peace flourish.

Model Answer 2

Unquestionably, travelling to new places usually provides interesting and lasting experiences that keep people's minds fresh. Some argue that visiting different nations can be tough if you are unfamiliar with the culture and traditions of the places you wish to visit. I agree with this statement, and in this essay, I attempt to explain my position before drawing fair conclusions.
There are a number of reasons why it is important for us to comprehend the traditions and values of other countries. First of all, many people go to different locations for business purposes or summer holidays. The issue arises, when we engage in criminal actions that are typical in their own nation, such as dining in public spaces and documenting the neighbourhood. As an example, people are not permitted inside buildings in Singapore. If this is discovered by the building owner or workers, there would certainly be serious repercussions.
Additionally, tens of thousands of people relocate to other nations like Australia and Canada in search of a better future. The majority of students encountered issues with community norms, renting homes, and traditional foods. According to a poll by the Canadian government, 80 percent of international students work more than the required 20 hours per week. Additionally, this poses issues when seeking a work permit after studying.
Additionally, learning the local language, even just a few lines like greeting words, helps tourists build stronger relationships with locals. They will therefore assist you in learning a great deal about their way of life.
In a summary, I would like to suggest that it is crucial for everyone to be aware of local customs and laws on human rights. To get the natives to react positively, you must grasp and praise their circumstances because cultural sensitivity and respect are voluntary and unenforced.

Model Answer 3

People are very protective of their cultures and traditions even in today's globalised world. And they expect visitors to adopt the same values while they are abroad. Additionally, it is important for a person to comprehend these customs because doing so makes it simpler to interact with other citizens. I concur with the statement, and I'll go into more depth about it after providing an appropriate illustration.
Today, travel and tourism are viewed as part of a community's ethics and values. When we refer to communities, we mean close-knit groups that are strongly tied to their customs and rituals. For instance, if a visitor goes to India, it will be simpler for him to get along if he knows a few things about India. Such as, if he learns a few words of the language, eats some native food, and knows about festivals and rituals. First of all, issues occur when tourists eat in public parks or take part in crimes that may go against local protocol. Another instance is Singapore, where it is illegal for visitors to enter office buildings and private areas, and doing so would be a criminal offence.
Second, every year, millions of individuals migrate to nations like Germany and Britain in search of permanent residence or a better quality of life. They have problems when they can't get their traditional food in the little communities where they live. But if they taste a variety of dishes from these locations, they will become accustomed to tasting new things, which will be useful in the future.
To sum up, I feel that visitors should try to grasp the importance of rituals, languages, food, and culture in light of how quickly tourism is growing. And only then would they be able to seamlessly integrate into these communities.
