Band 8 IELTS Essay
Nowadays, people have become very focused on their careers. After the spike in Covid 19, many people lost their jobs. From that moment, people started to look for jobs on social media. It is a debatable topic whether social media can influence a person’s career and advancement in the same. In this essay, we will discuss if using social media to grow a career is accurate and important.
I believe that social media plays a very important part in building and extending one’s career. However, this is not the only way forward to growth. With the advent of various platforms of social media like Facebook, Instagram, etc, we meet new people on a daily basis. This can be done by sitting in the comfort of one’s home. Now, you do not need to travel long distances for an interview. It is done online via video chat. Without a question, social media has been a major factor in job advancement. Employees who are looking for a job change gets to know many coworkers, friends, and family who work in the different company across the globe. They can get the news of vacant positions and hire over a message on social media. This is especially true for specialized social networks like Linkedin. There are many applications that provide a platform for job seekers. The Business Magazine has recognized Linkedin as the top website for linking workers with the same specialization throughout the globe. This site provides options to chat and apply for jobs to companies who posted the job. hence, social media is a huge factor that can help a person grow his career.
There are other factors also that help with the development of a job seeker. A candidate must always learn new things in their line of business. For instance, the Ministry of Health in the USA stated that doctors' CVs should include their participation in online courses. Especially the ones that keep them abreast of new developments in their specialties. Additionally, employees who acquire more soft skills have a greater probability of being promoted than their counterparts. For instance, managerial positions require a variety of skills, including collaboration, teamwork, and leadership qualities. An employee can be the ideal candidate for promotion to the manager if he or she cultivates them.
I believe that social media is a great factor to help with job opportunities. However, one should not only focus on social media to look for jobs. They need to improve their skillset and physically visit places that do not provide online opportunities.
Band 7.5 IELTS Essay
Many individuals today believe that social media are an essential part of life today. And that those who avoid them will always be limited in their ability to advance professionally. Even while I am intimately aware of how important social networks are, I believe that to say "always" is too subjective and overstated. Because, as we shall see, the virtual world does have some disadvantages.
On the one hand, social media and the internet provide individuals with a variety of advantages and chances to empower themselves. Users have free access to a plethora of knowledge and up-to-date information. They can also interact with others who share their interests or aspirations without restriction by distance. It is true that a lot of people these days have achieved substantial success by uploading videos to social networks. Such as YouTube or Facebook contents cover a wide range of themes from the arts, and food, to political or philosophical opinions. They receive compensation for the engaging content that receives millions of views, and their reputation is also much improved.
However, a person's career growth entails a variety of components. It includes professional credentials, practical experience, and social skills, all of which take time and effort to acquire. Moreover, engaging in a work context requires communication skills. And the ability to persuade others, with presentation techniques that are employed in person rather than online. Perhaps more importantly, the effects of offensive remarks or inaccurate information shared on social media could be very serious. For instance, a government official who makes a mistake or behaves violently on his social media page risks ruining his public reputation and career.
Social media networks undoubtedly play a significant part in contemporary societies. But I am adamant that individual competency and effort are the keys to increasing one's prospects of moving up the corporate ladder. As a result, social media should be viewed as a useful tool for communication rather than as a catalyst for success.
Band 7 IELTS Essay
Social media has evolved into a global lifeline for people in the modern era. Some individuals think that these platforms offer simple means to maintain sporadic contact with friends and relatives. However, other people believe that social media addiction harms one's physical health and the intensity of relationships. I believe that there should be a balance between both online social networks and face-to-face interactions, as they both have their own requirements. This essay will discuss both approaches in depth before drawing a judgment.
Social media makes it possible for someone to communicate with people all over the world. It might help him advance professionally by offering his knowledge and concerns to authorities in related fields. Being in touch with family members and friends from high school who live in other countries has become possible. The internet has made communication with people from around the world as quick and easy as going to the grocery shop next door. People can better comprehend one another cultures and become more unified as a result.
However, a person should refrain from using social media in excess because addiction to them has a number of negative impacts on interpersonal relationships. For instance, many children do not receive their parents' attention as a result of their parents' excessive activity on these platforms. It also has an effect on their emotional development. This also lessens the person's participation in social activities, which again has a detrimental impact on the growth of the community. Meeting people in the workplace and in society is equally vital since they are the ones who will be there for you when you need them.
In conclusion, because humans are social creatures, they must be in order for mankind to exist on the planet. Internet socializing is crucial because it is impractical to see all of your friends and family in person. However, it is also necessary to meet people and give back to your neighborhood.
