Drug consumption is increasing at an alarming rate. Unfortunately, many teenagers are falling prey to its usage. The causes can range from curiosity to peer pressure. This essay will delve deeper into the cause and suggest some preventive measures that can be adopted to save teenagers.

Humans by nature are influenced by the company they keep. Whether it be known people or friends, young teens often adapt the habit that they see around themselves. For example, if an adolescent sees their parents as drug addicts, they follow their footprints and end up becoming one. Secondly, peer pressure often pushes a child to try different drugs and over time, he or she becomes dependent on it. Children often resort to drugs even when they are stimulated with little stress in their life. It becomes a sort of an escape for them.

Long term usage of drugs creates a drug dependency. Children might find it difficult to even carry out basic tasks like focusing on studies due to their reliance on drugs. Sleeplessness or insomnia, increased heart rate, changes in brain functions are just some of the popular effects excessive use of drugs causes. Children must become aware that drug dependence can even lead to serious medical conditions if not controlled on time.

To combat this problem, parents must set a good example in front of their kids as we know parenting plays a vital role in what a child grows up to be. Schools and colleges should host programs to educate young adults about drug abuse. The illegal selling and purchasing of drugs must be tamed so that young people do not have access to it.

To conclude, drug dependence no doubt causes numerous problems. And if people do not stop when the time is ripe, there are high chances they will never become able to free themselves from its pincers. Therefore, society and the government should come together to protect people, especially the young generation from drug abuse.

Model Answer 2

Drug abuse has become a common phenomenon in modern times. People have found ways to access drugs either legally or illegally. Some people feel that drugs should be legalized while others argue in favour of their penalization. This essay will delve deeper into the issue, locate its cause and also suggest ways to prevent oneself from drug abuse.

The easy access to drugs has worsened the situation. Children at a very young age become exposed to drugs due to their easy availability. In the beginning, many adolescents try for the sake of experience in peer pressure and soon become its slave.

Others learn from the behaviour of their parents. They often mimic what they see and watching their parents try drugs propels them to try as well. Drugs don’t immediately affect the human system. It is prolonged usage over time that makes us vulnerable and addicted to it. Palpitations, anxiety, lack of concentration, slurred speech are just some of the side effects of drug abuse. In many cases, excessive exposure to drugs like Meth, Cocaine, LSD has even led to death.

Certain measures can be adopted to prevent drug dependency. Young people often are inquisitive which leads to dependency. This can be addressed by making them aware of the ill effects of drugs. Campaigns, movies, and dramas can be used as a medium to educate them. The government should ensure that illegal selling of drugs gets banned as that makes youngsters access without a second thought. Those who already are under the clutches of drug abuse must be cared for and put in a rehabilitation centre for a speedy recovery. Parents should closely monitor the behaviour of their children and not neglect any behavioural changes.

In conclusion, drug consumption cannot be under check until both parents and their children unite to fight against it. The whole society should come together and help people make wise choices that could ruin their life forever.

Model Answer 3

Drug- related cases have been rising day by day. The worst affected are the young children who aren’t much aware of the harmful effects of the drugs. This essay will discuss the cause and effects of drug abuse and some suggestions that can help fight drug abuse among youth.

Teenage is the age when hormones are surging in the body. Adolescents do not know how to cope with their surroundings. Even slight stress can push them to look for things that can appease them. For this, they generally seek refuge in alcohol and drugs as they provide instant gratification. For example, if a child has parents who often fight with each other and their marriage is not working. The child will be compelled to run away from the constant everyday stress the family fights bring. What they would run to would be most likely drugs. Such parents often become negligent towards their children’s well being. Secondly, many children have easy access to drugs as peddlers roam around in the colony freely. All they need is some money which in many cases, children steal to buy drugs. Eventually, they become addicted to the drugs and it impacts their life. In many societies, using drugs has become a fashion and young people want to stay relevant and so even if they do not wish to take drugs, they end up consuming them.

The effects of drugs are life-threatening. Brain damage is one of the serious concerns of prolonged usage of drugs. People become paranoid and they fail to trust anything. It changes the cognitive ability of people and they even fail to perform normal tasks without taking drugs. The dependency increases so much that people cannot begin their day without injecting or snorting drugs of their choice.

Certain measures can be adopted to prevent drug abuse among young adults. This includes raising awareness. Most teenagers do not realise what they are getting themselves into. They should be shown documentaries where drug abuse victims share their stories. So that they do not follow the same steps and understand the gravity of the situation drug abuse can lead to. Drug dealers must be arrested who make it easy for teenagers to access drugs. Strict laws should be implemented and the government should ensure that peddlers do not roam around on the street freely.

To conclude, eradicating drug abuse cannot be done by one person. It needs to be done by society and government by joining hands together. While teenagers are easily influenced and become prey to drugs, the parents should also take care of their behaviour. So that children do not turn to drugs to seek some momentary relief.
