Model Answer 1

There has always been a divided opinion whether there should be a death penalty for people who commit henious crimes or not. Some people believe that people who commit heinous crime should be given capital punishment. However, there are also some people out there that believe that it is not the right approach. I on the other hand totally stand for the ``an-eye-for-an-eye” justice. I believe that this might create fear in perpetrators and the number of crimes can subsequently be reduced. While I stand for “an-eye-for-an-eye” justice ,there are people in the society that believe that no one can take anyone's life even in the name of justice. It is the birth right of every human. However, I would also like to highlight that there have been cases of wrongfully accusing an innocent person , who thereby, face execution due to no fault of their own whatsoever. I blame the law system for this, as it misleads people and they eventually lose faith in the law and justice. Even though the right to live is the fundamental right of every human being, I still believe that death penalty can discourage criminals and decline the criminal rates. It is far better than seeking justice in the court which takes years after years to reach a verdict. It thereby hurts the sentiments of the victims and their families. I believe death penalty even though inhumane is the best way to dissuade criminals, and also prevent others from commiting crimes.

Model Answer 2

Many people are of the opinion that people who commit heinous crimes should be given death penalty while others believe that it is not the right approach to punish offenders who commit serious crimes. The advantages and disadvantages of death penalty are as listed below. One of the major drawbacks of a death penalty is that it is moraly not right. Not even the judiciary is responsible or has the right to take anyone's life in the name of justice. Another disadvantage of this would be when innocent people are wrongfully executed. It again causes people to not believe in the law system. Third disadvantage that I would like to point out would be that death penalties do not give the perpetrators a chance to redeem or reform themselves.

There could be several reasons why a criminal commits such heinous crimes. It could be a spur of the moment and if such people are given a chance to redeem themselves they could actually give back to the society and help to make it a better place. Now coming to the advantages of death penalties, I believe that they can be the apex for preventing crimes. Offenders who commit such heinous crimes might think twice before indulging into something like this, if they are cognizant about the death penalty as it will create a fear. Criminals who absolutely must be given a death penalty are terrorists and criminals that are not penchant in reforming themselves. It is best for the safety and security of the society. I completely stand for the death penalty justice as it would dissuade othe rpeople to be provoked for such crimes, thereby reducing the crime rate all over the world.

Model Answer 3

People have different opinions about death penalty. Some believe it is extremely inhumane and brutal while some believe that it can bring a significant change in the society and the world could be a better place to live in. Even though it is the best punishment for people that commit heinous crimes, it does require some pondering over. It is one of the hardest punishments as it is brutal taking the life of another person. It is the most suitable punishment for those who committed detestable crimes. Now coming to advantages of a death penalty. The person can no longer pose a threat and can nor cause any danger that has been sentenced to capital punishment. Besides, it will be a tangible warning for the other people who intend to commit such heinous crimes. Sometimes the crimes committed by an offender leave an everlasting impact on the life of a victim, which can not be compensated by death penalty. However, there is still a kind of justice by ordering such offenders to capital punishment. It also saves other people from falling prey to such offenders. There could be various reasons why an offender committed such a crime. It could be the person is suffering from psychological or a mental disorder. In such cases, if the person has a capability to reform themselves, a second chance is expected from the society. But if we consider the offender’s situation, what about the victim and their families. Of Course there have been cases when an innocent person was wrongfully executed. I believe our law system should not completely eradicate capital punishment, instead analyse the sitautions in which it can be applied successfully. The safety and security of the society should be kept in mind , the victim and their families should also be compensated. However, no amount of compensation can bring back the damage that the crime has caused.
