Topic: Overpopulation in many major urban centres around the world is a major problem. What are the causes of this? How can this problem be solved?

Band 7 IELTS Essay

Present-day overpopulation is one of the foremost growing issues. Human population growth in developed regions has been particularly pronounced in urban centers. In urban cities, a number of factors contribute to the population growth. The issue can, however, be mitigated by a number of options.

With the help of this essay, I hope to explain the causes and potential remedies for urban city overpopulation. People from rural or semi-rural areas initially move to urban areas in an effort to improve their standard of living through employment, education, and better living conditions. Moving to developed areas is one way for people in today's world to maintain a standard of living in society.

When compared to rural areas, urban cities are more conveniently located in underdeveloped or developing nations. Furthermore, compared to country life, urban life has more extraordinary things. To support the future financial development of the residents of rural areas, the corporate structure and educational laws are not properly established. The government spending money on areas that have already been developed is the main drawback. To put a cap on the amount of people moving from rural to urban areas, the government should take into account underdeveloped regions. In order to prevent an unusual movement of traffic to metropolitan cities, it is also important to inform people who live in rural areas of the advantages of doing so.

The development of rural areas to enable improved chances for belonging to such locations is one of several workable answers to the problem. Rural residents will be able to significantly contribute to a nation's economic progress if all areas are developed. To prevent an unequal distribution of resources, a country must flourish. According to me, this movement would not occur if the government provided all the amenities available to people of metropolitan regions in rural areas. No one wants to leave their hometown or their parents in search of greater possibilities, but if rural occupations don't pay well, people must migrate. Rural areas won't have a proper structure unless they receive it.

Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

The tremendous rise of population in urban cities leads to uneven distribution of population in a country. There are multiple reasons which affect such overflow of the population in urban cities which can be education, health facilities, or lack of employment opportunities in villages. Perhaps, to make the nation a developed one and avoid any circumstances of unusual growth, the government should take initiatives.

Overpopulation in urban cities can be a reason for concern. Existing people in urban areas might find it difficult to live there. There will be an effect which will lead to longer road jams and competition for people belonging to urban cities in employment and academics. Even if we think from an environmental point of view, this uneven distribution of population can lead to excessive pollution in urban cities. The true essence of urbanisation will be lost with the inclusion of more rural people. Metropolitan cities seem to be attractive to people belonging to rural areas because of better growth opportunities for them. Also, better pay and higher living standards became the reason for their migration. Even the majority of the corporate companies, hospitals, and good universities are set up in urban cities. This invokes the conflicting attitude in the minds of rural people.

Instead of looking just at the positive side of urban cities, people residing in the countryside should also look at the negative side. Once they will become aware of the negative things like excessive pollution, congested areas, competition is everything, and the stress of work, then they might not wish to shift here. Rural people should be made aware of the benefits of living in the countryside and help them to progress.

To conclude, all the resources should be equally distributed among various regions to avoid overpopulation. The schools, offices and hospital facilities should be developed. Certain big corporate companies should come up with the solution of establishing their offices in rural areas. However, by developing the countryside and not just focusing on urban cities it would be better to avoid the situation of overpopulation.

Band 8 IELTS Essay

There is a great deal of shift in people from rural areas to urban cities due to multiple reasons. This is the major reason for overpopulation. The reasons which lead to such a situation are better education, job opportunities, health facilities, and better chances to grow. Unlikely, in rural regions, the positive influence of modernization and urbanisation is lacking.

No one wishes to settle for less. To give themselves everything they deserve, people shift to urban cities. The development and growth opportunities in every sector attract people belonging to rural areas to take part in creating overpopulation in urban areas. Metropolitan cities become the centre of attraction because of the wide availability of opportunities in every sector. Education, in rural areas, has a limited number of schools and most of the schools do not cover senior secondary education. Even though the facilities in hospitals are limited, they are equipped with minimal technology to treat the patients. Many youngsters feel that growth opportunities are limited in rural areas.

The overcrowding of the urban cities becomes a major problem, which ultimately the government can improve. Since most of the people are paying taxes, in return they expect certain development to take place in their areas. This problem can be dealt with by the government. They can take the help of social activists and big businessmen who wish to work on the solution to such cases.

Once all the facilities are provided to people in rural areas then there won't be a need for them to migrate. The provision of financial incentives along with all major benefits to people of rural areas will help to reduce the overcrowding in urban cities. Along with that, the development of certain corporate companies in such regions is necessary. Also, coordination will become the tool for progress that will allow development to take place.

To rest my case, I think if people belonging to rural areas get opportunities in villages then there is no need for them to migrate. As of now, the resources are unevenly distributed among different regions, so this has become the major reason for overpopulation.
