Outdoor Activities Speaking Part 1 is a general topic. In this IELTS speaking part 1 topic, candidates are required to answer a few questions. This speaking topic comprises a total of 10 questions that require candidates to address their personal preferences. This IELTS speaking topic has the following questions:

IELTS Speaking part 1 requires candidates to introduce themselves to the examiner. The part assesses whether the candidate has the ability to communicate, state opinions, and give information on everyday topics or experiences. IELTS speaking is calculated in four criteria: fluency and coherence, lexical resource, grammatical range and accuracy, and pronunciation. Topic: Outdoor Activities Speaking Part 1

Model Answer 1

Question 1. What do you do in your spare time?

Answer: I enjoy engaging in physical activities or exercises in my free time to feel rejuvenated. I go out and play tennis and football with my mates.
Vocabulary
:

  • rejuvenated – having been given new energy or vigour 
  • Physical exercises - the performance of some activity in order to develop or maintain physical fitness and overall health.

Question 2. What outdoor activities do you most like to do?

Answer: Physically demanding hobbies truly appeal to me. I enjoy running, cycling, and other forms of exercise. With my friends, I play football rather frequently. You only need to engage in outdoor activities to recharge after spending the day seated at a desk.
Vocabulary

  • Cycling - to ride a bicycle
  • appeal – the urge to do something

Question 3. How often do you do that?

Answer: I sincerely perform these activities every day. I joined a club where I hang out with my pals every day to play football and other games. I take advantage of any opportunity to do something enjoyable because I am a very adventurous person.

Question 4. What outdoor sports do you like? (Why?)

Answer: As I mentioned before I am an adventurous person. I really like Hiking, Camping, Rafting, Motorboating, Biking, Rock Climbing.

  • Adventurous - like to try new things or have adventures
  • Rafting - the sport or pastime of traveling down a river on a raft.
  • Rock Climbing - the sport of climbing rocks and mountains with ropes, etc.

Question 5. What (types of) outdoor activities are popular in your country?

Answer: We all have our own preferences. Although it is difficult to say, I frequently see neighbours exercising in the morning or going for walks after supper. Badminton and bicycle riding are popular pastimes.

Question 6. Would you say people spend more time outdoors today than they did, say, 20 years ago?

Answer: In my opinion, no. Nowadays, office employment are the norm. Additionally, many office workers do not engage in enough physical activity or exercise. They are hence frail and more prone to illness.

  • Prone - likely to suffer from something

Question 7. Do old and young people like doing the same kinds of activities outdoors?

Answer : Really, it all comes down to personal preference. Not every elderly person is physically fit or able to perform tasks that younger people can. However, some activities, like badminton, can be enjoyed by both young and old people. I have observed players of all ages partaking in this activity.

Question 8. Describe an outdoor activity that you would like to try for the first time?

Answer: One day, I'd really like to skydive. This is one activity that both thrills and terrifies me. I would love to participate in this activity with my friends.

  • Excites - to make somebody feel happy and enthusiastic or nervous

Question 9. Describe an outdoor activity that you did for the first time?

Answer: I was invited to go trekking with some of my coworkers. I accepted grudgingly at the time because I had never gone trekking before. I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to hike for very far. But when we first started hiking, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I experienced some breathtaking vistas and waterfalls.

Question 10. If you had to choose an outdoor job, what would you choose to do?

Answer: Without a doubt, I'd choose anything physically demanding. something like farming, or even training athletes for other sports Or I'd really like a job planning trips to the mountains and forests for adventurous people like me.
