Topic: Nowadays university education is very expensive. Some people say that universities should reduce their fees, especially for the less fortunate students or those coming from rural areas. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Model Answer 1:

Due to the growing number of students along with the growing population, it is seen nowadays that many universities are opening up which are imposing a huge chunk of fee structure on their students. There may be various reasons behind this which I have discussed in my article below.

Generally, the fee structure gets significantly high in the case of private universities because of the lack of government aid. The committee of the private institutes has to manage all the expenses of The institute from the student's money only. This doesn't happen in the case of government universities. There the salary of the professors, laboratory, and other expenses are aided by the government because of which the fee structure becomes significantly lower than the private institutes. Various reasons back up the high fee structure of such institutes. Firstly, in the case of Engineering and medical institutes, there are more expenses than the other general degree universities due to the larger application of high-tech laboratories, incubation rooms, sophisticated machines, computer labs, and the electricity and other maintenance expenses become really high. As a result of this, the fee structure of the students gets affected and becomes higher. Again, as the world is becoming more dynamic with the passing years and decades, the need to make the education system more dynamic is also becoming important. Because of this, universities are now providing more diverse courses with diverse facilities to cope with the trends of the modern world. This has significantly contributed to the fee hike in such universities. Also, in the case of renowned institutes, students from far away place also migrate to the university campus to get a proper degree to catch up on a satisfactory job. Because of this migration, the University authorities have to include hostel and mess facilities inside the University campus. This again makes the fee structure high in the case of universities.

Apart from the valid reasons, universities should not make the fee structure high with the help of some illogical reasons, only to make their benefit. Authorities should get the point that the students with the best brains will shine and make a good name for their University, not the ones with the best pockets.

Model Answer 2:

In recent years, University education has been seen to be more expensive. Even though the authorities of the universities show many reasons behind this fee hike, this, in turn, makes a loss in their academic excellence by prohibiting the poorer talented students from enrolling in their universities. I have discussed this topic in detail in my article below.

The education system, as a matter of fact, should be managed in such a way that it can be accessed by almost all sections of society. There should be no barrier for anyone with a good brain who wishes to get a degree. But due to the more diverse nature of today's world, the education system is also harboring a diverse nature. By incorporating modern-day techniques and facilities into the education system such as high-tech computer labs, chemical and physical laboratories, and a more sophisticated University campus, the fee structure of the students is made significantly higher. No doubt that these facilities are important from a modern world point of view, but the authorities should never forget about the ones with poor privilege and rich brains. Only because of financial problems, many talented students don't enroll themselves in universities or sometimes even they have to drop out of their institute because of the same. To cope up with this problem, there should be proper scholarship programs for the less privileged students with the best brains, so that they can maintain their educational careers and pursue their dream jobs. After all, at the end of the day, only those students with the best brains will succeed in life and make a name for their University. Again, the University fee structure gets significantly higher in the case of self-financed modern-day courses. The fee structure of courses such as Artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, ethical hacking, and supercomputing has become relatively higher due to the application of modern-day technologies. So, the poorer students having an interest in such courses become unable to afford such a higher fee structure. Authorities should therefore take these situations also into account and make such courses easily available to the more interested students by suitable enrolling systems such as conducting entrance exams for these courses. For the students scoring the best marks in such exams, these courses should be made easier for them to enroll financially to get better output from their future.

Model Answer 3:

Due to the increase in the demands for a professional degree along with the growing number of students, university education is becoming very expensive. This is because of the introduction of new-age facilities, techniques, and a diverse nature to the different directions of education in order to cope up with the demands of the modern world.

Though this hike in fee structure in the universities has some valid reasons, none can deny the fact that making University education expensive makes it really hard for the lower unprivileged people to get a university degree. This in turn is responsible for the flushing out of many talented brains as because of the fee hike many people with a richer brain but poorer pockets don't even get a platform to show up their intellectual skills. This also affects the future of the country because of the wastage of brains. Hence, to cope up with the finance-related problems of the students, Universities should have sufficient and proper scholarship programs for the less privileged students. If possible, for the students with the best brains but least finances, the university education should be made free of cost. This also helps to maintain social equality. But as the university alone can't afford all the expenses of such a huge number of poor students, the government should also, from their side, introduce some scholarship programs to the needy ones. Again, along with the advancement in almost all the fields of education, the need to keep the teaching facilities updated is also increasing. The introduction of new-age technologies into teaching systems like computer labs, auditoriums, botanical gardens, incubation labs, high-tech online libraries, etc also contributes towards making university education expensive. Hence, a remarkable option rather than a university degree would be an online degree. The fee structure in the case of online education is significantly lower than university education and is thus affordable. But the problem with online education is that online educational platforms are not properly recognized by any government or private recognizable board or agency. Hence, they can't be tracked whether they are valid or not. If someone doesn't have any focus on the degree but only on the skills, online education would be a better option.

In conclusion, I would like to state that whatever may be the reasons, universities should always keep a balanced fee structure, with suitable provisions for the poorest, in such a way that no student gets denied a University education because of financial problems.
