Topic: Nowadays, news companies spend a lot of money covering international news. However, local news is more relevant to people’s lives and should receive more funding. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Band 8 IELTS Essay

The news channel businesses now spend a huge amount of money covering foreign news. The local news is frequently thought to be more important than national news since it is more relevant to people's lives and requires support. However, I vehemently disagree with the assertion, and in this post, I'll go through a number of arguments for why.

First of all, a great number of individuals have the capacity to view such news with the aid of global news alone and by funding them. Thus, their viewing of that particular news station increases significantly as a result. The worldwide news organisations consistently have higher TRP ratings than the news organisations that cover local advertisements and information.

When compared to other regional news organisations, The Times of India. It is a prominent news channel with an investment of roughly $50 million, and has a TRP rating of over 80%. People frequently needed local, national, and international news. This is due to the fact that most individuals are already aware of information at the local and regional levels, but they are unaware of worldwide news.

Additionally, by investing more money in the businesses, they will also earn significant public sector shares and stocks. Since the news channel is a well-known brand on a global scale, investors will put money into buying its stocks and shares. Additionally, many people choose to subscribe to the national news station over the local news channel.

The key reason for this is the reliable information they disseminate and provide to their audience. According to a representative from an international news organisation, more than 90% of people solely accept the news reports from national news channels.

To sum up, in my opinion, the news channel made a sensible choice to spend more money on foreign news. Rather than local news by taking into account its large popularity and stocks and shares.

Band 6 IELTS Essay

The majority of media outlets' budgets are now used to cover international news. Although the majority of people say that local journalism is more important and deserves more funding, I vehemently disagree. I'll explain my objection in this essay.

First, general information on World Health is provided through worldwide news. Everyone needs to be informed of the trends in global health, in my opinion. Thus they should all be aware of this knowledge. For example, individuals learned a lot about the 2020 epidemic. Additionally, travel advisories from a number of foreign reports cautioned individuals against visiting certain locations where COVID-19 was highly prevalent. Regardless of a person's geography or country, this global news had a significant impact on their life.

Second, individuals worldwide can benefit from information concerning situations around the world. The coverage of this global news should cost news organisations more money. By listening to worldwide media coverage, for instance, people might learn about issues like terrorism. Additionally, individuals will have the chance to join international campaigns to stop such a tragedy. The Black Lives Matter movement and the Asian Hate movements serve as examples of the influence of global media. In support of these movements, demonstrators came from several nations.

Thirdly, worldwide fashion trends, shifts in vogue, and the state of the fashion business are covered by foreign news. Local fashion enthusiasts can compete internationally by updating their knowledge thanks to this information.

Students at the Amsterdam Fashion Academy, for instance, will learn more about fashion trends in cities like New York or Japan. Additionally, they will be able to apply this knowledge to their studies, broadening and improving their understanding. Therefore, since international news is more pertinent to people, news organisations should invest more money in it.

In conclusion, I firmly feel that media corporations should invest more in international news because it is more pertinent to people's lives. This is due to the fact that international news reports on information regarding global crises, global health, and global fashion trends. No matter where they are in the world or in what region they are in, individuals can benefit from this information.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

News outlets like television channels, websites, and newspapers spend a lot of money on international news coverage. Moreover they ignore local news in today's expanding global community. As it helps keep people informed about events around, I think local news is crucial to society.

Local news, which is so important to the residents of the area, should, on the one hand, be given additional funding. To give an example, before leaving for work, people should be aware of the weather prediction for their country or region. This is required in order to be prepared for any inclement weather or other undesirable conditions. The public must also be informed of the most recent information regarding local events like crime, traffic, and natural disasters.

In order to avoid unfavourable outcomes, this may cause people to alter their route when leaving. People will typically avoid a street when commuting, for instance, if it has been reported for crime on a regular basis.

On the other hand, there are benefits to investing a lot of money in international reporting. Global businessmen rely on media reports of international news to keep them informed of events throughout the world. For instance, certain businessmen will have more money if the price of oil suddenly increases in a nation. In addition, if a new outbreak of a disease occurs, other nations will be alert for its signs and symptoms. Further, implement the appropriate security measures at airports to stop it.

The public can protect themselves by learning how to stop or slow the spread of diseases through international news. In the instance of the COVID-19 pandemic, people were made aware of the illness before others thanks to local news agencies' international news coverage.

The importance of heavily funding global news coverage cannot be overstated. However, I concur that local news should be given greater emphasis because locals rely on it for information in their daily lives.
