Band 8 IELTS Essay
Globally, and mostly as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic, there has been an upsurge in the consumption of goods and services. As a result, there has been more waste during the COVID-19 epidemic. Plastic bottles, aluminium foil containers, use and toss gloves and masks, and other items were among the waste produced by the COVID-19 epidemic. The remainder of this article will go into further depth on each of these topics.
To begin with, there are a number of reasons why this problem has attracted attention from all around the world. Nowadays, buying new goods is preferred than recycling old ones. No matter if it's the plastic bags we use to carry groceries and other products or the ordinary containers we use to store food, as we consume more and more, there is a higher waste produced. Time constraints and convenience have made "ordering in" the new standard, leaving only self-satisfaction and environmentally harmful plastic garbage behind when a home-cooked meal is missed. In order to meet this problem, a variety of methods might be modified. The delivery of food must be done in an environmentally friendly and green manner, according to eateries. Food containers made of recyclable and biodegradable materials are two examples of how these modifications might be adopted.
We may use the example of a company that began selling meals in leaf-based containers in Germany. This product is similar to that which is popular in the Indian street food environment. Additionally, garbage should not be dumped in landfills, rivers, oceans, or seas. Recycling should also be promoted. As a result, both the environment and people's daily lives are more adversely affected by the trash dilemma. However, in order to manage these issues and regulate home trash, the government must set up the proper laws and regulations.

Household garbage generation has risen considerably in recent years. People are eating more pre-packaged foods as a result of their hectic schedules, resulting in increased trash creation. This issue can be rectified by changing one's lifestyle and switching to paper-based packaging.
Because they are increasingly immersed in other obligations and activities, such as employment, the internet, and social networking sites, people nowadays rely on convenience and packaged food items. Instead of making meals at home, they choose to eat cooked/packaged food. Domestic garbage is steadily rising as a result of this, and it primarily consists of packages, plastic bags, and food packaging boxes. Another factor contributing to this problem is that individuals are preparing their meals at home with pre-packaged and processed products. They aren't interested in cooking spices at home any longer. Supermarkets have started this tendency since they offer every food item in a package; for example, ginger and garlic paste is sold in tin packets. As a result, the demand for ready-to-use foods has been a major contributor to the rise in household waste. Fortunately, if people are willing to change their lifestyles, this difficulty can be overcome. For example, if individuals quit purchasing ready-to-eat foods and instead use raw ingredients to create their meals on a daily basis, solid waste output at home may be drastically reduced. Furthermore, if individuals prefer to carry their veggies and fruits in cloth or paper bags, food packets and plastic boxes will naturally disappear from home garbage. Finally, rather than purchasing food from supermarkets or restaurants, people may be responsible and avoid adopting an unhealthy lifestyle by making their own meals at home. Domestic trash generation will be reduced significantly as a result of this lifestyle change. Raising awareness about this issue can help to improve the situation.
Band 6.5 IELTS Essay
Packaging is one of the developments that helps to carry and store things as a result of modernization. In most countries, household waste is linked to packaging materials, and it grows at a high rate every year. There are several causes behind this, and actions must be taken to address this worldwide issue.
People are busy and have a hectic schedule, therefore most of the time they order meals from restaurants, which come with packing material, which adds to the amount of garbage in the house. Furthermore, many businesses wrap their items in plastic bags and other materials, then cover them with two to three layers of packaging, which adds to the waste. According to a recent poll, many consumers in the United States prefer to purchase through online applications, with demand increasing by up to 20%. Companies and shop owners, on the other hand, utilized three layers of packaging: first bubble wrap, then a plastic bag, and last cardboard box, all of which became waste once the package was opened. There are various things that may be taken to decrease home waste. To begin with, the government could take certain efforts to force corporations to limit the amount of packing material used on their delivery items, since every small effort will eventually turn into revolutionary moves in the future. Furthermore, because jute and bamboo are biodegradable materials, they are viable packaging options. For example, in India, the government outlawed plastic material, as a result of which many people are utilizing jute and other tree-based products, which reduces household waste because it is a recycled product from which many small-scale enterprises profit. To summarize, "every lock has a key," and individuals find a solution to their issues. Packaging material is a need in today's materialistic culture, but individuals must discover a material that decreases their garbage.
