Band 7 IELTS Essay

School Education revolves around the bond between students and teachers. The quality of education improves as the student-teacher bond grows strong. People believe that the education quality in today’s world has degraded. In my opinion, it is directly related to the weakening of the student-teacher bond.

One solution is to allow the students to evaluate and criticize their teachers. Just like any other idea, it has its pros and cons.

The students should be given an opportunity to express their opinions towards the teachers. The students can express their opinions through online forms and questionnaires containing questions about the teacher’s performance and way of teaching. These questionnaires bridge the gap between a teacher and a student, enabling them to be more open with the teachers. A healthier student-teacher relationship also leads to a dramatic surge in students’ grades. Moreover, it also gives the teachers room for improvement as they are more aware of their weaknesses.

On the other hand, allowing students to express themselves can worsen the situation. The opinions can be disrespectful and can hurt the teacher’s sentiments. In some cases, students might take advantage and do the wrong evaluation. It can also lead to intelligent and hard-working teachers receiving a cut in their salary or even losing their job.

Opinions are like a double-edged sword. Then can either turn the situation in your favour or throw you out of the game. A student’s opinion of the teacher can either strengthen their relationship or spoil it. If done wisely and carefully, I think allowing the students to evaluate their teachers is a better choice in the long run.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

Nowadays, people seem to believe that the education quality is low and, it has something to do with the student-teacher relationship. Communication is the key to a healthy relationship, no matter what the relationship is. Although teachers give remarks to the students all the time, students have never been given the same opportunity. This, in my opinion, widens the gap between a student and the teacher.

An exciting solution to this situation is letting the students evaluate the teachers. It means allowing the students to give remarks to their teachers. It can be done through a survey consisting of questions such as ‘How is the study material provided by the teachers?’ or ‘How would you rate the teacher’s way of teaching?’ Though it seems like a great idea, it is both a boon and a curse.

The most significant advantage of the survey is how much it is going to improve the student-teacher bond. With a chance to evaluate the teachers, the students no longer have to be intimated by them. It enables them to be more open with their teachers. It also creates a cheerful environment in the classroom and leads to better academic performance by the students. Teachers can also benefit from this as they are more aware of their weaknesses and can improve them.

Now, let’s talk about the curse. Giving students the chance to evaluate their teachers’ performance can lead to unfavorable outcomes. It can destroy a teacher’s career as they might have to face a reduction in the paychecks or even have to resign from their job. Students might use it as an opportunity to take revenge on the teachers and do the wrong evaluation. It can also lead to a toxic and hateful environment on the school campus.

Every idea has its pros and cons. It depends on the person or the authority that executes the idea to decide whether it will give favorable or unfavorable results. Any decision that is taken wisely and carefully can give favorable outcomes. In my opinion, allowing the students to evaluate the teachers is a good idea, as long as it is executed accurately.

Band 8 IELTS Essay

Ever since the beginning of this century, we have seen a massive change in school education. As schools function based on the relationship between a student and a teacher, this change has a lot to do with the student-teacher bond. It is being said that the quality of education is lower than before. In my opinion, it is related to the communication gap between the student and the teacher, which has been increasing rapidly.

There is an immediate need to narrow this gap for a better future of school education. Experts say that the problem can be resolved through teacher evaluation. Teacher Evaluation is allowing the students to evaluate their teachers. This evaluation is done through a survey containing multiple-choice questions. The questions are generally related to the teacher’s performance and their way of teaching.

The survey aims to let teachers know what the students think about them, their strengths and weaknesses, and a chance to work on their weaknesses. Though it has a thoughtful aim, the survey has its pros and cons.

By letting the students evaluate their teachers, the schools aim at making the students less intimidated by the teachers. This step is necessary for bridging the gap between students and teachers. Another advantage of the survey is that it allows the students to communicate more freely with the teachers, which results in higher grades. Not only the students but the teachers also benefit from it. They can be more aware of their weaknesses and work towards improving them.

Talking about the cons, handing the power over to the students can give unfavorable results for teachers. Students might submit wrong evaluations to favor their cause. It might result in a possible reduction in salary or even the resignation of teachers. Along with that, it also leads to a hateful environment in the school.

A survey for students’ evaluation of their teachers is a tough decision to make. If you have the authority to execute this decision, you should be careful about its favorable and unfavorable outcomes. Although a tricky decision, I believe the teacher evaluation by the students is the right decision in the long run.
