Topic: Now the Machine is Very Complex, and a Lot of Difficult Work is Automated. Does this Machine Automation Have More Pros than Cons?

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

We have reached a generation where our life depends on machines. They have made our lives more convenient, faster, and comfortable. These machines are built by humans for their own use and to make life easier. There are machines that are operated by humans and there are machines that are very complex and automated. Now, a question arises, Is this practice of replacing human workers with automated machines good for society or not? In this essay, we will discuss the pros and cons of these machines.

Machines were basically made to reduce human workload and errors. So automatically, they became better and faster performers as compared to humans. We use various types of machines in our everyday lives, from washing machines to mixer grinders, everything that makes our life easier is a machine. They allow us to spend time with our family and pursue hobbies. This would have been impossible without the help of machines.  In many factories, heavy machines are used to complete tasks that could not be done by humans. Automated machines have helped factories spread the work among humans. they are used in different departments which increases the efficiency of humans too. There are many industries in which the work is very complex and dangerous. For example firecrackers. One simple mistake can cause many lives in such an industry. In such industries, automated machines are a revolution. They're not only completing the work on time but also saving the workers' precious lives. There is nothing more important than life and if having automated machines in factories is saving human lives, then they're no less than a blessing for our society. Machines are not only used in factories, we see automated machines in banks, ticket counters, and even restaurants!

I believe that machines have been a boon to us. They are really helpful and can save multiple lives. Also, they can complete the work faster and in a more convenient way than humans. There are few cons like malfunctioning. However, these are negligible if compared to the pros of machines.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

Automated machines are said to be the biggest revolution in this digital era. They have definitely made our lives easier, more comfortable, and free. But are there no flaws in this system? Is it good for each and every one of us? These questions are important to address because every practice has some pros and cons and leaving the negative points means not caring about the people who are adversely affected by these practices. So, let's discuss the pros and cons in detail.

These machines don't need human beings to operate them as they are self-operative, this thing is very good if the workers are unskilled and lack technical knowledge about how to operate the machines. The workers can be assigned other tasks according to their skills and the work can be completed on time at each and every level and department of the company. The work done by these machines is fast and provides accurate results which can save so much time and effort for human beings.

Now, let's look into the cons of automated machines. The most crucial disadvantage of using such machines is that it causes widespread unemployment as humans are being replaced by machines. When all the work is done by the machines, then why waste money on hiring workers? There are many organizations that are fully automated and don't hire workers. People are being laid off because many sectors are introducing these machines that don't require humans to operate them. Unemployment is already a major concern in our country and if every other organization starts adopting the robotic method of production, there will be massive unemployment on a very large scale in our nation. There are people who are dependent on unskilled and daily-wage jobs to feed their families and automated machines are snatching every opportunity to earn money from them. I am not saying that we should replace machines with humans now, but those places where workers could work without any danger or complexity, don't introduce machines in those places and the industries which are dangerous to human lives should definitely adopt automated machines.

Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

In developed countries, it is very important to maintain a balance between labor-intensive and capital-intensive techniques of production as they need good productivity as well as a well-functioning employment level to grow into a developed nation. Automated machines have changed the way we used to live our lives, undoubtedly. Instead of standing in a long queue to get our flight tickets, we can just book the tickets from the comfort of our homes and because the techniques are automated, we'll get our ticket in minutes. There are many restaurants in which robot-like creatures serve food to the people, while it is not very popular at present, it definitely has a scope in the near future.

Though these machines have changed our way of living for the better, let's not forget about the adverse effects it is causing to people who have lost their jobs because of the introduction of self-operative techniques of production. When computers came into our lives, many banks fired the employees who used to do the manual work of recording the transactions as there's no need for their work now and even those employees who were old and couldn't understand the working of a computer were laid off. This is about the introduction of computers that still require human operations for the most part, so it is not difficult to understand what many people are going through after the introduction of robotic machines that don't require human operations at all. In many countries like India, it is very important to maintain a good balance between using automated machines and providing sufficient employment opportunities to the people because of its high population and developing status. If people are not employed, no matter how capital-intensive a country tries to become, it can never be developed because the income of the citizens constitutes a nation's wealth and if the citizens are unemployed, the GDP and economic conditions of the country will be affected. The government should take steps to maintain this balance so that a country can grow in terms of productivity and efficiency as well as employment generation.
