A museum is a place that offers a plethora of knowledge on historical, scientific, and artistic interests. Many people visit the museum to gain information related to their topic of interest while others view the visit as a leisure activity. No matter what the purpose is, everyone that steps inside the museum goes out with some knowledge acquired in the process of strolling through the gallery.

Museums that showcase history itself have a long history of going back to the third century when it was first established in Egypt. Since then, a lot of museums have developed in almost every country. The traditional role of museums is to impart knowledge to their visitors by displaying objects of religious, cultural, and historical importance. It is a source where not only information is gained but also leaves one wondering about their roots. The traces of the evolution of “Pliopithecus” to modern-day “Homo Sapiens” can be found in museums and that tells about how we have managed to survive despite the odds. A museum educates us about different flora and fauna that have existed in the past, present and have enormous potential to survive in the future as well. The medium of this education can range from the use of audiovisual instruments to display the fossils on a pedestal to give an authentic experience to the visitors. Modern humans have created a civilization that is advancing every single day and museums are the proof of the changing civilizations that it has seen.

They enhance our knowledge by showcasing different fossils, artifacts, and manuscripts. It helps us in educating ourselves by tracing our history as a species. By displaying the remains that link us with the past, it educates us about the steps that could be taken and that which can be avoided to not become a history ourselves. Various museums show documentaries that give us glimpses into the past while others make use of audio in different languages as per the need of the tourists and scholars so that their knowledge can be enriched and they have a rich experience.
