Band 7 IELTS Essay

The globalization , liberalization has led to exchange of materials, products from one country to another . It has made the boundaries between countries invisible . Due to which more people are now trying out a variety of foods, products at their nearby store or home . It has also made people try out different things at a cheap price.

I personally like how different varieties of foods are available next to my street. A growing number of people are trying out diverse cuisines of different cultures, which require them to acquire ingredients from many places. The trend depends on a variety of situational factors, so it's hard to say whether it's positive or negative. There has been a great deal of discussion these days about global food demand. Although imported food is considered an alternative to domestic food, its consumption has grown in popularity. Despite the matter's drawbacks, I believe there were several positive aspects to this issue.

People who are curious about experiencing different cultures and geographical locations will benefit most from this. Due to the different ingredients used for cooking, Mexican and Italian flavors will be quite different. In his vicinity, a food enthusiast would be delighted to find both of these. The second benefit is that it enhances the commercial activity between nations. India exports tonnes of animal meat and spices to countries like the USA, increasing its revenue. Similarly, corn export from the Mexico continent can be seen as a very similar example. Thus foods from various regions that contain nutrients are available for people to try for their dietary needs. People could be exposed to harmful products such as fast food and other junk food.

There are disadvantages attached to it. Some of the disadvantages I am going to discuss below. Among them is the health concern. The majority of the ingredients in food products are synthetic, for example, monosodium glutamate, a taste-enhancer. Obesity and cancer are well documented ill-effects of such ingredients. Loss of revenue is the second negative aspect. There is a tendency for people to prefer food of foreign origin due to their attraction to food varieties. As a result of losing local business, there are some negative consequences.

On the other hand, it might be non-profitable for the natives. There are myriad beneficiaries for the individual's consuming food. It is inevitable that local products might lose their business to products from other territories. For example, Businesses owned by the natives would die of famine, which would cause their families to be in famine. For civilians to show interest in these items, they must purchase them. Some of the healthier cereals like ragi, wheat, and rice have also been eroded. Moreover, the food quality has also been degraded and the use of pesticides, fertilizers has also led to various health problems among the children. However, there are some fascinating advantages that can easily outweigh its shortcomings. In order to increase diversity, the food available for customers cannot enjoy exotic tastes and experiences that local people had not previously experienced. Various kinds of products are now available to people from different countries that are not in their homelands. Many of the delicacies we enjoy, including many that will likely appear on tonight's dinner table, are a blend of international ingredients. In other words, relying solely on local ingredients would be a huge loss.

In conclusion, I think that this trend certainly has some detrimental effects on the environment. The transporting and refrigerating foreign foods cause global pollution from exhaust fumes which increases during the transporting process. As a result, when deciding, it is important to weigh the pros and cons and consider one's priorities.

Despite the disadvantages, I mentioned above, there are many advantages to increased consumption of food from other areas. A variety of food options would be available to these consumers. An example of this can be found in Hanoi. Hanoians now could experience the incredible nutrient-dense benefits of water spinach, which is an important part of the Vietnamese diet. In addition, food companies could expand their business into potential markets even if competition increases. Several economic benefits would result from the creation of more job opportunities. Taking all of this into consideration, it should be noted that the consumption of food grown outside the country can cause. The dislike of eating by some people is understandable.

Accordingly, it appears that in certain circumstances, the rising preference for varieties of food that use ingredients from many parts of the world may be positive. Despite this, one should realize that there is a darker side to it as well. Moreover, there is no doubt that seasonal and local feed is healthier than others. To maintain freshness, imported produce needs to be frozen, which diminishes its nutritional value. For example – most of the meat at supermarkets are stored and frozen for long hours. Not only that, the use of pesticides which kills healthy bacteria have led to transport of crops which is not seasonal. Irrespective of the fact that imported produce has some benefits, it also has many disadvantages. Food and vendors from local areas should be promoted by the government to ensure their survival.
