Band 6 IELTS Essay

Young children are increasingly participating in TV shows these days, which is an undeniable fact. In terms of view rates or followings of those shows, they play such an important role. Furthermore, there are also some programs which are intended merely for teaching or entertaining children to showcase their talents. There are those who believe this does wonders for a child's potential, while others believe that it may lead to them being stunted. It is evident to me that children have scores of benefits to gain from being able to appear on these shows, which cannot be denied for a variety of reasons.

Having the opportunity to appear on these shows is clearly beneficial to children for a number of reasons. Self-esteem and self-control are built through their responses to quizzes, challenges, and questions. As host or guest, there are always adults ready to guide them properly, so there is no cause for concern.Additionally, if they have the opportunity to discover themselves and their abilities, they might find out their own inscrutable potentials. Children therefore have a great opportunity to participate in this event.

Additionally, children are bound to learn how to respond properly to others. There will always be adults who will be able to give them advice when they make a mistake and fix it on a silver platter for them. The environment might also be conducive to children making friends and working together if necessary. In addition to meeting a multitude of people, they can also receive help and love from them, which will help them grow faster. There is no doubt that it will have a positive impact on them.

Children are literally at an advantage by participating in those shows when parents or adults provide proper guidelines and support. Participating in reality shows will boost their career and develop a sense of uniqueness , personality within them . It shows the right path to them .

However , in most of these reality shows children are expected to behave as an adult and carry responsibility at an early age. These reality shows develop a sense of competitiveness, conflict among them . It also adds an addiction towards fame , money and popularity which can waste their valuable time. This happens especially when someone who cannot win can also lead to embarrassment, anger, frustration, which have effects on their life. They feel as if they have failed and could not live to the expectations which can then have a heavy toll on their life. Moreover , in these reality shows , the winners are selected using marketing techniques to get votes apart from talent . In some shows the judges also treat them harshly in a bad way which could affect the child’s mental well being . However if the judges are good mentors then the child develops an overall good personality and can learn many things from them .

The parental pressure for those who could not win , make their children participate using manipulative ways has become normal which is not correct . Parents must understand the children's inner talent and must cultivate it according to them . These children are so young and should be given the opportunity to explore their interests. Moreover , this is the age for children to enjoy studying and not dealing with stress and pressure . Therefore, it often seems as if parents want to fulfill their dreams .The drama attached to these reality shows leads the reality off track. The cries, laughs , are just added to engage more viewers and increase TRP rate. These reality shows are not reality but are scripted and the emotions are faked.

Thus, it is impossible to keep the children away from reality to perform in it, however some may think that performing at such a young age ruins their life. On the other hand some may think that young talents may disrupt the personal development of children. According to some, this trend enhances the development of young talents, while others believe it deteriorates the development of children. Public performance of talents brings more drawbacks, according to me.

The reality shows boost the children's self confidence and personality and help to deal with battles and provides a good opportunity to the children. Famousness and recognition by many people even in daily life cause exposure to private life and devalue individualism as the first harmful effect. In the daily news and tabloids, news of young artists attending events, going to school, and performing well on tests is obvious. It may therefore be difficult for these youngsters to feel safe because things can easily get out of their hands. Secondly, fame earned from variety shows can either praise or discourage children. It is not uncommon for young gifted people to receive many compliments, when they succeed, which can result in disrespect toward others. They are also under a great deal of pressure of criticism when they commit mistakes or mishaps, leading to depression and mental illnesses. Talented teenagers often alter themselves in an attempt to please the public eye. The more mature their appearance is, the more famous they are likely to be. For example, maturity has been a trendy concept in many arts products. A young person's original personality traits fade away undoubtedly when they get lost in the crowd. There is a need of parent-public partnership in a way that restricts and controls the activities of children rigorously.
