Modern Communications Mean That It’s No Longer Necessary to Write Letters IELTS Writing Task 2

It is true that letter writing has become quite fewer due to the modern age technology which has led to communication becoming faster. It may be compared to letters which are time consuming in terms of writing as well as in terms of sending or receiving them. Official communication through letters is undertaken in order to ensure that the signature of the participant is proof of originality. Moreover despite the coming of the modern technology for communication purposes there are still people who are older and from the previous generation. These groups have not been able to adapt to these technology changes of using social media or Skype or emails as the means of communication. These people still prefer the vintage and written letters which serve as their purpose of how they are will be driven by the fact that they would Express the emotions and ideas and queries within a single letter. 100 letters to the villain are considered to be highly honest and people keep these letters as souvenirs and a proof of affection. Hence, the recent developments of communication and Technology has enabled people to communicate rapidly without wasting time. Practicing letter writing is still relevant in various parts of the world because of the emotional and official weight it carries.

However it is still important in the current generation and has not become obsolete. Communication has become convenient due to the advent of the internet that has led to the growth of social media and digital websites. Both Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp Messenger or even simply live video that is shared through Instagram has been effective. Communication has become more convenient and faster in this rapidly changing world. People now demand for better services of internet connectivity only to ensure that there are sessions that are not blocked due to network issues. The use of letter writing is highly followed. Generally in order to lay a query within the specific Bank or government authorities etc it is important that the applicant is able to provide a handwritten letter. it is important that the applicant is able to provide clear information either to the bank or any government authority. It can be stated that for the purpose of official work and issues writing letters is still prevalent in many societies rather than emails or messages. Hence it may be difficult for the older generation who did not adapt to the use of smartphones and digital technology to make use of the same. They may instead prefer handwritten letters. Thus, it may be concluded that modern technology for communication is paving the way making letters completely obsolete in the future.

On the other hand, most people have become accustomed to digital media for communication. Many are still adjusting. The value of writing letters for older people like my grandmother or my grandfather is still focused on affection rather than the issue of time consuming. However in order to ensure that work is done in the modern world faster and much more rapidly it is essential that the use of modern technology is endured. I agree with the fact that letters might have its own emotion and vintage style as it used to be during the age of my grandmother. I still believe that communication with the family and the people of one’s life is extremely important. Writing letters to distant relatives, friends are even their own family who live far away from each other due to work or educational purposes. They have found the technology to be a much more convenient form to keep track of their family members. Hence it can be concluded that modern technology for communication is more convenient and easier for people to receive faster replies. On the other hand, the presence of writing letters in society is no longer expected.
