Band 8 IELTS Answer

The two blueprints above show the changes in the town of Springer from 1970 till now. At first glance, we can notice that in 1970, there was more space for everything including forest. In the current map, we can see a lot of buildings and lesser forests.

In 1970, there were two houses, one farmland, one shop and lots of forests. There were lesser buildings and more nature in the town of Springer. In the past 5 decades, lot of urbanisation happened and forests turned into buildings, farmlands became smaller and education came into play. There are many things that are newly constructed in the current map. The first thing is the Airport. There was no airport in 1970 but the current map has one at the top right corner. The second newly constructed building is the school building. It is placed in the centre of the map. There are 6 shops surrounding the school. There was only one shop in 1970 which increased to six in the current map. The third new building that came up are Apartments. There was no apartment in 1970 but in the current map, we can see 6 apartments. Two at the top side of the map and four at the bottom side. The number of houses has decreased to one, which shows people are now living in apartments. The first land has decreased by a huge margin. Forests are cut down and airports, apartments are built. The west side of the map still has a thin strip of forest prevaling after urbanisation. Multiple roads are built which connects all the buildings to one another.

Band 7 IELTS Answer

The two diagrams show the changes within the town of Springer from 1970 till present. There are a lot of differences between the two maps. They clearly show the effect of urbanisation in the modern world.

If we compare the two maps, we can see that there are very less features in 1970 while the current map has many features. There were only two houses, one shop, one farmland and forests in 1970. Within the next 50 years, people started building infrastructure which led to decrease of farmland and forests.

If we see the northwest part of Springer, houses and forests have been replaced by apartment buildings, leaving significantly less greenspace. Moving to the northeast, what was once a forest, has been developed into an airport. In the central part of Springer, shops surrounding the school have been built. This led to the reduction of wooded areas, with some forest remaining to both the east and the west.

In the southern part of this map, more than half of the agricultural land had been transformed into shops, housing, and apartment buildings. The forest to the west has remained intact.

In summary, both the infrastructure and population of Springer have boomed since 1970. This has also led to the construction of many new roads to facilitate transportation and connect all buildings.

Band 6.5 IELTS Answer

In the maps provided, we can clearly see the difference. The gap of 50 years has led to urbanisation. This has increased the infrastructure and the facility but decreased the freenlands and the forests around us. In general, we can see the increase of buildings and apartments.

If we deep dive and compare, in 1970, there were forests in the north and western part of the map. However, in the current map, these forests were reduced and apartments and schools are built. We can see that the northern part of the current map has an airport which was build by cutting down the forests. In the central part, the forests were chopped to build school and shops surrounding the school. The norther part of the current map also comprises of apartments. The south eastern corner had a farmland in 1970. This farmland was shortened to build more apartments and shops. The farmland reduced to 1/4th of its original size in the current map. We also see that many roads are build which connects all the infrastructure. Only the western side of the forest is intact. The long strip of forest on the western side also has a road going by the side.
