Band 8 IELTS Essay

Youngsters nowadays have their own smartphones. There are certain advantages and disadvantages of smartphones just like any other scientific gadget. As per my understanding, the smartphone is a blessing for mankind. However, it depends on its usage whether it will serve a good cause.

It is evident that smartphone helps teenagers to explore new things. Teenagers get to learn freely over the internet anywhere at any time. The students can gain more knowledge about the world and about their subject in various languages. Since it enables the student to gather accurate information, it will help to enhance their learning process. In a nutshell, it has brought the whole world of knowledge in a single click. Moreover, during the Covid, we have realized the use of digital platforms. Not only the job premise but also schools and colleges have opted for distance education. In this scenario, I believe that smartphones will expand the opportunity for gaining knowledge among students. It will be able to make them self-sufficient in terms of their ability to research certain topics by themselves.

However, in spite of the advantage of smartphones in the learning aspect, it may appear as a curse for students if not used in a controlled manner. There are many other features of a smartphone which may distract students from studying. It is often seen that students get involved in social media platforms and play games rather than using it for gaining knowledge. It has been analyzed that whenever some notifications came in, students often subconsciously lose their concentration while studying. It breaks the concentration flow and prevents them from focusing on their work. As a result, it tends to diminish their level of performance.

To conclude, I believe that the use of smartphones needs to be under the proper guidance and supervision of the parents. Parents should be careful enough about how the phone is being used. Only then, one will be able to mitigate the drawbacks of this gadget and will profit most from the smartphone.

Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

Nowadays, almost all teenagers own their own smartphones and other electronics. While many developing children's general knowledge is improved by mobile devices. I think that today's children are becoming more obese due to excessive use of personal smartphones.

The amount of knowledge that school-age children can acquire via smartphones to aid in their academic pursuits is its principal benefit. With the advancement of the educational system in today's society, children need a possible source to help them compete with their peers. Smartphones provide access to the majority of the information that students need to know in order to succeed in school. For example, the United States performed a study to identify the unintended effects of smartphone use on students. Researchers calculated that 75% of the time, smartphones helped students who especially required more information for academics. Although this may be the case, I think that it promotes kids to lead sedentary lifestyles, which can be harmful to their health.

Teenagers may gain weight if they spend a lot of time playing video games without getting much or any exercise. Longer periods of time spent in the same position without moving about can lead to several health problems, including heart disease, high blood pressure, and obesity among today's youth. According to estimates, children nowadays are 30% more likely than children 30 years ago to gain weight as a result of their increased physical activity. I think it's important to encourage children to engage in physical activity because it will make today's children. Especially those who are already dealing with some minor health challenges, healthier in the future.

In conclusion, while smartphones are incredibly useful for students, they are having a negative impact on the health of the next generation. Because they don't require kids to engage in any physical activity.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

While some would contend that giving teenagers cell phones is beneficial, others would counter that it may be dangerous. While these electronic devices aid in young children's safety, I think they can have a negative impact on academic success.

Teenagers' primary benefit of owning a smartphone is for safety reasons. If there is an emergency while kids are away from home, they can use phone apps to reach their parents right away. Numerous new apps, like WhatsApp, Viber, Google Maps, etc., were introduced for Android and iPhones. In an emergency, they therefore truly assist them in sending messages and providing a position. In the event that their children are abducted or anything unexpected occurs while they are traveling home. Parents may follow their whereabouts and locate their children. For instance, a recent study in the USA found that more than 40% of teenagers utilized their smartphone's location sharing feature. This so to let police know where they were when they were kidnapped.

Because so many young children spend a lot of time on their smartphones each day, there is little time for study time. Additionally, because these devices were created in an appealing manner by utilizing cutting-edge technology. They are more likely to be constructed in an addictive manner. As a result, they are unable to focus on studying effectively, which will lead to subpar exam results. For instance, a recent study on students who failed the grade 11 exam at Doha schools. It was discovered that more than 50% of students who were sixteen years old failed as a result of playing games on Samsung phones. As a result, I think that these gadgets distract from studying.

In conclusion, even if smartphones can help teenagers contact their homes for safety reasons. They will fail the exam since they prefer to spend more time on mobile applications.
