Model Answer 1

People lead a very busy life these days. They toil day and night only to come back home to relax and refresh themselves. For this relaxation they pursue different hobbies. Watching sports is one of them.

People are heavily invested in either cricket or football. They know every bit about the life of the players, who they date, where they eat, even how much money they earn. People are overly invested in their player’s life. Suppose during the month of March to May you can notice that Indians become obsessed with the Indian Premier League, also known as IPL. You can spot a cricketer in every advertisement and hoarding . It is like a mega festival.

However these very people are not interested in participating in sports. For this we need to understand the basic psychology of the human mind as to why it watches sport in the first place. They do it for entertainment. They have a mundane job with a very boring life. So watching a sport is a way of them having a little surprise or even excitement in their life. They can comfortably judge a player from their couch. They can comment about how the player has lost their abilities and need to be replaced by a good capable one. They can even make a whole team on the basis of their judgment. But this is all from the comfort of their couch. The moment they are told to play a sport they will lose interest. This boils down to many factors. The number one being that human beings love comfort. They love their cushy jobs with good salaries. They have basic comforts and to lose all these for an unknown career in sports seems wild. Second, they are inherently lazy. A quote by Jules Renard that says, “ Laziness is nothing more than the habit of resting before you get tired.” Playing a sport requires extreme dedication and hard work that most people are not willing to do. It requires a strict routine that has to be followed day and night. So it is more lucrative to watch sports than to play it.

Model Answer 2

If you look around, you will find at least one person (if not more) around you who watches sports in their leisure time. The kind doesn’t matter, what does is the relaxation they get from it. Some people religiously watch sports, praying for their favorite team to win. People are curious to know about their favorite players and teams. However we rarely find a person taking the initiative to play a sport which he or she enjoys. This happens mostly due to the fact that playing a sport is a hard task. It requires waking up early, practicing for long hours, leading a healthy life away from all addictions. Human beings are mostly weak and hence they are not able to do all these for a long time.

Many people have stressful jobs and after coming back home all they want to do is relax. Hardly you will find a person who will take out time from his or her relaxation and invest it in playing sports. It can also be said that playing a sport can be highly beneficial for one’s health- both physical and mental. It helps one build a brilliant analytical mindset with a well developed healthy body. The act of only watching sports does only the opposite. It might be mentally stimulating, however it really does not contribute to a healthy mind or body.

A quote goes “Comfort is the place where dreams die “ which is a hard truth for people doing jobs. They have a stable income along with job security. They are comfortable and hence they might not find it logical to invest whatever time they have in a sport that does nothing for them in terms of money. Hence they will always revert back to watching sports as their hobby rather than playing it. This is because that will require a hard will along with intense practice and schedule.

Model Answer 3

Nowadays people lead hectic lives. They have work pressure along with many responsibilities. They are constantly looking out for ways to relax which they do in the form of hobbies. One such hobby is watching sports. People have been interested in sports since time immemorial. Watching sports can make people forget their worries even if that’s for an hour. Sometimes even patriotic feelings can play a huge role as people root for their country to win at international levels. They have a huge interest in watching the game. However it is hardly seen that many huge fans are the ones actually playing any sport. Lack of enthusiasm for physical work might be the leading cause as to why people like to watch sports rather than playing it. An average person has many responsibilities in his or her life. They have to take care of their families and fulfill other social duties. This takes a toil on their physical health. Obviously they do not want to spend their remaining time playing sports. They can just relax at that time by watching a sport of their interest.

People lack self control and hence they are unable to control the hours they watch sports. Whenever they need an escape from reality they can easily access their favorite team playing on a smartphone. This results in an unhealthy lifestyle where people instead of working out or looking after their health tend to just laze out. This can highly impact their physical as well as mental health. It will also lower their endurance to any kind of physical difficulties they might face later in life. Instead of spending so much time on watching sports they can utilize it in working out and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. So instead of just watching sports one should also be actively involved in it for better physical and mental health.
