In the west, it's typical for parents to encourage their kids to leave the house when they're older. They also benefit from increased privacy and the freedom from parental supervision. Parents also gain from this at the same time.

Since they are no longer responsible for supporting their kids, they have more time and money to spend on activities they find enjoyable. However, parents frequently experience a great degree of loneliness after their children leave the house, and many of them eventually move into an assisted living facility.
