Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

Museums are a place of historicity filled with artifacts and historical items. They tell the stories of their ancestors and their sociocultural life. Museums are storehouses of past items from tools to historical sculptures that represent the knowledge about how life was spent on the planet in the past. Students, adults everyone can visit the museum to gain knowledge of the past. The advantages of museums in society are quite high.

This requires them to charge entry fees for the purpose of maintaining the ancient and antique artifacts which, hence, outweigh the disadvantages certainly. The primary advantage of a museum is to provides immense knowledge about the historicity of different cultures, especially the national culture of a place. From historical collections of coins, tools, and sculptures to the present-day exhibition of different traditional cultures in the museums require immense investment and only the government contribution may not suffice. Charging of entry fees is a means to ensure that from the management of the museum to the preservation of the collections in the museum is possible. Moreover, with the presence of entry fees, it is possible for museums to ensure that they are able to take good care of the collections allowing people to gain abrupt and precise knowledge about the past. People are able to enjoy their visit to the museum better with proper management and guides involved in the museums compared to museums that do not charge an entry fee. It becomes important to consider the fact that within a museum when the management is poor and is not taken care of due to inadequate funding issues, people do not enjoy their tour of the museums. This is because of the lack of proper exhibits and the inadequate facilities that the people might experience. However, charging hefty entry fees might result in people not considering visiting the museums because of unaffordability. Hence, the advantages of entry fees charged by museums can be considered higher compared to the disadvantages of free entry.

From the origin of the animals to human beings, civilizations and their entire life is depicted in the museums. Many historical items like tools, sculptures, etc can be considered to be of immense value and possess historical importance which is present within museums making them a center of knowledge.

Charging entry fees for museums can be considered to be important because ensuring proper management, preserving the collectibles which belong from older times as well as ensuring that visitors have quality time during their visit to the museum require proper guides. Maintenance of these aspects requires a huge amount of funding and only government intervention and funding cannot be considered enough. The advantage of having museums is that people are able to visit the museum and are able to enhance their knowledge of the past. From zoological history to human civilization history, people can find a range of exhibits that are present within the museum. It is possible for them to enhance their knowledge and ideas about the historicity of a place. Moreover, having entry fees enables people to access tour guides as well as ensures that their visit to the museum is productive. Accordingly, entry fees to museums enable us to ensure these aspects. However, the disadvantages of museums can be identified when there is free entry to museums which can be found to have poor maintenance of the artifacts as well as the infrastructure. People would find it difficult to get enough knowledge and information from poorly managed museums that do not have valuable collectibles. Generally, these museums not charging for entry to the museum and also do not provide any facilities like tour guides and directions while the exhibitions are rarely held in them due to lack of funding. Hence, the advantages of entry fees to the museums can be considered to have more advantages than disadvantages considering that museums having free entry do not have enough facilities.

In the museums, the main requirement is regarding the exhibits that are displayed explaining the origin of the animals to human beings, civilizations, and their entire life. Museums charge entry fees and can be considered to be important for several reasons. However, several museums endure free entry as well which further has its own disadvantages.

One of the main advantages of entry fees charged in museums is ensuring proper management of the museum’s activities, preserving the historical collections as well as ensuring that visitors are able to gain enhanced levels of knowledge. Maintenance of historical collections requires a huge amount of funding for the purpose of maintaining antiquity which only government funds and investments cannot suffice. For this purpose, entry fees are charged in museums to ensure that proper tour guides could be availed. Moreover, by having effective facilities in museums, people are able to enjoy their visit and gain knowledge about the history of civilizations, culture, and society and even gather knowledge regarding art and infrastructure. Accordingly, entry fees to museums enable people to gain better facilities like exhibitions held bringing in new items of historical value. However, the disadvantages of museums with entry fees can be considered when hefty charges are imposed which becomes unaffordable for quite a number of people. Nevertheless, it is better than any museum having no entry fees because of the disadvantages it possesses in terms of a lack of effective collections that might be of importance. It might not be easy to gain knowledge and information from poorly managed museums where a lack of proper historical collection is endured. People might visit these places due to the mere inability to afford high expenses in highly charged entry fees. It also lacks tour guides as well as proper guidance about the importance of certain collections on which general knowledge might be scarce. Hence, the advantages of entry fees is higher for museums providing immense facilities which free entry fee museums might not be able to provide in abundance.
