Topic: Many jobs require ongoing training and research to stay competitive in a world with rapidly evolving information and technology. Some believe that it is the responsibility of businesses to pay for this training for their staff while others feel it is up to the individual. Discuss both views and give your own opinion.

Model answer 1

While some contend that firms bear responsibility for employee training and research, others hold that it is the individual's responsibility. In my view, companies should foot the bill for employee training and research. Many times, employees can’t afford machinery training due to financial conditions or other reasons.
Businesses can benefit greatly by providing their personnel with the necessary training. Training the workers is essential since technology is developing more quickly. In addition to improving staff skills, this will benefit the corporation commercially. Businesses can promote those abilities and attract more projects. Compared to spending, the return on investment will be enormous. The workforce can also be prepared for the future. They can make use of those abilities for both themselves and the company. For instance, according to a survey in the Hindu newspaper, the majority of businesses use old technology as a result of a lack of skill upgrades.
Others, however, contend that since each person must forge their own path to the future, they should be held accountable. Employees can learn on their own if the company does not assist with skill transfer, since skill learning requires independence. They can improve their careers and acquire well-paying jobs by doing this. Additionally, they can expand quickly and their professional success graph will follow an increasing trajectory. According to a Financial Times report, approximately 60% of the workforce, for instance, learns independently, and that number is rising daily.
In conclusion, as training has profitable results, businesses can take a proactive approach to provide it. Long-term gains are possible for both the company and the workers through this approach.

Model Answer 2

With the introduction of technology, it is essential for many roles in this cutthroat business environment to have updated training and research. While some might contend that employers should be responsible for making the contributions. Others feel that people should make their own payments. Although financial hardships are made easier when an employer pays for the tuition, I personally think that any career-improvement training should be private.
On the one hand, when a corporation covers the expense of training, it often provides financial support. Most people find it difficult to spend money on personal growth after caring for their families. But if the money comes from the organisation, they feel more secure. For instance, a survey of a recruiting firm reveals that the majority of applicants had not received any income from their own sources. Especially prior to receiving any incentives from their employers. However, I think this strategy eliminates freedom because some businesses enter into legal contracts before agreeing.
On the other hand, if it is paid for by the individual, they are free to select the course, instructor, and setting. Since the manager or board members' consent is not required for privately funded education, the training can be kept a secret. For instance, I've invested in a couple of Udemy skill development courses that I can watch repeatedly and learn the material I need. I can also contact the instructors by phone or email for assistance or clarification. As a result, I am certain that all development programmes, whether they are for work or not, should be paid for by the students themselves.
In conclusion, given how quickly technology and the Internet are changing the world, training may be required for some vocations. Although receiving cash from the corporation may provide short-term relief, it may also cause issues down the road. I believe that making your own payments is preferable.

Model Answer 3

There is still debate about whether employers should foot the bill for IT training for staff members or if it should be entirely up to the individuals. I shall explain both positions in this discussion before offering my opinion on the former.
There are several arguments in favour of the idea that businesses should be in charge of worker training, to begin with. The most obvious one is that skilled individuals could play a significant impact in raising the organisation's earnings.
Moreover, this would not only increase the workforce's capacity for more precise work. But it will also serve as a variable that could increase employee loyalty to the company. For instance, as per the piece published by "The Times," workers are more likely to remain in their jobs if their employers provide them with the right training. It is obvious that there are good reasons to support this side.
However, why is it crucial that staff members remain updated with technology? First of all, being updated is essential to surviving in this world that is changing so quickly. To grasp this better, it may be challenging for a person to get the right job and to survive at work if they lack sufficient expertise. Or especially knowledge about the constantly growing technology. For instance, a 2015 ILO survey found that, on average, 70% of PRAN-Agro Limited employees lost their jobs as a result of their inability to operate the machinery. As a result, it is apparent that staying updated with the world would benefit people' professional prospects.
In conclusion, even if it is essential to stay current with society in order to have a better career today. I think it is the obligation of businesses to teach their employees.
