Topic: Many governments think that economic progress is their most important goal. Some people, however, think that other types of progress are equally important for a country. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

Model Answer 1

The progress of a country can be decided by its economic growth. A lot of governments concentrate more on economic growth while keeping other factors aside. However, some people have different ideas as they believe more in political stability, social condition, security and education. It is justified to have different thoughts in a democratic country.

Many governments pay crucial attention to the economic development of the country. They think that economic growth plays a vital role in the nation’s development, which is correct. If the economic condition of a country is developing, it means that there are more business opportunities, more job openings, and other chances for the people of the country. The more the opportunities, the more economic development will be faced by the nation. The funds that come from the development of the country can be used to enhance other sectors, like military services, public infrastructures and education.

On the other hand, governments should also make sure the environment stays green, and the living standards are better. Keeping the environment safe makes sure that more businesses and other investments will emerge. This will provide opportunities to improve the country's economic development. The country’s economic condition will not develop if there is no support from social, political, educational and other systems of the society. The government should also make sure that the nation is safe politically. Politically safer nations are more prone to get investments from large companies. Without skilled and educational workers, it will be tough for a nation to enhance trade and industrial activities.

It is evident that economic growth plays a vital role in the country’s development. However, I believe that economic progress is possible when social welfare, better education, and political stability are also taken care of.

Model Answer 2

A country runs on the wheel of its economic development. Hence, the government also focuses more on economic development other than any other developments. This has created a dilemma in the minds of the people regarding the importance of other aspects like social harmony, public healthcare, transport, lifestyle and how these are often neglected. Economic development is absolutely necessary for a country to progress in today’s world. The economic strength of the country directly affects the social growth, employment and lifestyle of its people.

If economic growth is taken care of, many other characteristics that determine the well-being of the country fall into place. However, there are sectors like education, sports, and greenery which need special care. One of the most vital of these attributes is the political scenario in the country. If the political powers and elected officials are incapable of serving the public, the development of the nation is bound to come to a halt. Hence, issues like social injustice, decent living conditions, and the absence of educational and medical facilities also need to be addressed without delay.

Finally, the value of an economically stable country cannot be handled by the government only. It needs to be controlled by both the government and the people, especially in this day and age. The efforts by the administration should be balanced and not concentrated on a single sector. This will also improve the belief of the people in their government. This will in turn produce a politically stable government, increasing economic progress.

Model Answer 3

The monetary aspect is an essential pillar when it comes to the development stature of a country. The GDP, NNP, NI (National income), etc., are some of the deciding factors as to how a country has been doing. The government moves forth with this prospect indistinguishably. Capital is the most prime thing that harbors other resources directly or indirectly for a country.

A significant number of people also think of the requirement of improving other pillars of development. They say that if other resources don’t exist, then the economic growth of the country cannot be staged. One of the most important treasures of development is the improvement of human resources. The other domains like political, social, environmental developments should also be thrown light upon. Taping right from the educational setup, research methodologies, laboratories, medical amenities, etc., in a way, corresponds to the overall enrichment of the whole country. The government needs to focus on sports and tourism which might bring more people to the country, resulting in more economy.

In conclusion, it is not the money or monetary front on its own that makes a country superpower. Economic development may be a prominent and a promising dimension, but is not the only way for development. The development of a country comes with all-round prosperity. Hence, progressing and focussing only on economic progress does not necessarily help a state to grow economically. Other areas of development, if not focussed on, can bring the economy down.
