Topic: Because of the global economy, many goods including what we use as daily basics produced by other countries have to be transported for a long distance. To what extent do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

Band 8 IELTS Essay

Due to the concept of globalization there has been an increase in trade between countries across the globe, and as a result of nations opening up their market for foreign business, individuals are exposed to items produced in other countries, even in the daily basic products. Although, there are some disadvantages for such a system, the pros outweigh the cons by a large extent.

Compared to the old days, now we are having more choices for the same commodity, from different manufacturers across the globe, hence there is an increase in competition among the companies to provide better products to customers. For example, earlier in India there were only a few automotive manufacturers like HM and Tata, but after the 1990s when the market was opened up new vehicles with radical designs were introduced by companies like Hyundai and Ford.

Secondly, people will be able to buy fruits and vegetables which are not locally cultivated . For example Dragon fruit, Plum, and Kiwi which were not available in India earlier are now available in most of the super markets. Finally, globalization also allows local vendors to expand globally which allows them to boost their business, for instance American supermarket chain Walmart is now open in India as well.

However, there are some cons in the concept of the global economy, mainly the native and traditional items are often lost from the market when people start moving towards more foreign products. Namely, with the advent of non native fruits in the market, some of the native fruits like Jamun and Guava have lost its place. Another main disadvantage is the amount of pollution that is caused by cargo planes and ships for the logistics of these products to different parts of the world.

In summary, the world is now a global village where products native to one country are accessible to individuals in other parts of the world. There are some disadvantages to the concept of a global economy but the advantages outweigh the disadvantages by a large extent.

Band 7.5 IELTS Essay

As a result of economic situations all over the world, some countries export basic needs to areas that are not near them. I believe the advantages corresponding to transport necessary items to different parts of the world are more considerable than the minor disadvantages.

On the one hand, a potential drawback of sending goods may be difficult in critical situations. Research findings confirm that whenever a country gets into a problem with another country, another country is not able to give them a hand because they are more likely to will be attacked. In that situation, a country without resources finds it difficult to manage its own country. Another perceived negative is that poor land have to pay a lot of money to receive goods. Although these countries are unable to earn much money, they should pay it in this way.

On the other hand, a primary advantage of exporting is that it can create good jobs for people who are willing to find a suitable career. Developed countries can generate job opportunities lot in transportation or production fields. As a result of this, the unemployment rate will decrease. A further benefit is that the production of basic needs in exporting region leads to a growth standard of living. It can be facilitated living because people do not think about their daily needs.

On balance, it is true that exporting goods to other countries would seem disadvantageous under certain circumstances. In my view, its positive effects in terms of making job possibilities and increasing the standard of living in rich countries override the disadvantages.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

There is a huge increase in the demand of imports from other countries concerned regarding the negative impacts of goods transportation have sparked the debate on this rising topic. There are huge advantages to this concern and these benefits overshadow the disadvantages.

There are huge benefits of the global economy and it is true to say that any country cannot be self- sufficient to fulfill the needs of the entire population. Every nation has something special in it such as some better at agriculture production, some are better at energy production, etc. so these countries can contribute to each other for fulfilling their requirements. Moreover, this will help the people to get a variety of things that are not produced or less produced in their own countries.

On the other hand, there are some disadvantages of the trade and global economy. It greatly affects the local culture among the people. The food imported from the other countries has changes the food culture of India. Youngsters prefer to consume the international food rather than Indian food. Apart from this, the dress culture of the society is also greatly affected. People change their dressing patterns according to the foreigners. They prefer to wear western dresses rather than Indian dresses. But these disadvantages can be controlled by looking at the benefits of the global economy and trade.

Therefore, we can conclude it by saying that the advantages of trade outweigh the disadvantages of the global economy. No matter how it affects the food culture or dress culture of India, the population is getting the taste of every flavor that can be made by different countries.
