Topic: Countries with a long average working time are more economically successful than those countries which do not have a long working time. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Band 8 IELTS Essay

With the onset of industrialisation, there has been an increased competition in each of the sectors. In reality, this trend has increased the amount of hours that individuals spend working at their jobs. Further, some claim that countries with longer workweeks have had more economic growth than those with shorter workweeks. I vehemently disagree with this point of view, and this article will expound on it with enough examples in the lines that follow.

First and foremost, it is doubtful that workers who work more than their regularly scheduled or defined hours can achieve the optimal work-life balance. This clearly has a negative influence on their health and wellbeing, which in turn affects productivity at work.

For instance, a Times of India investigation into many Indian businesses found that the productivity of those where overtime is required of employees has decreased. A detrimental effect of this phenomena on the nation's overall economy was also addressed in the report.

The detrimental effects that lengthy hours have on employees' health are another reason why increased working hours do not enhance a nation's financial situation. This is due to the increased risk of chronic illnesses of various types among worn-out employees. Naturally, a country's economic possibilities are constrained in some way by its sick inhabitants.

As an example, despite the fact that Russia is home to a sizable population of highly intellectual working adults. One in five working professionals there is afflicted with a chronic illness like diabetes or high blood pressure.

As a result of the extended hard work, employees' work-life balance is decreased, which in turn worsens their health. Therefore, people working longer hours do not contribute to an economically developed nation.

Band 5.5 IELTS Essay

In today's world, countries with prolonged working hours are significantly more economically wealthy than those without. Several people will undoubtedly hold opposing viewpoints on this subject. However, I believe that good management of employees' extended working hours by all of the country's enterprises. Together with increased vacations and incentives offered to them correctly, would lead to stronger financial success.

Various firms are currently employing their employees to work for them outside of typical working hours. They are doing this in order to have a good yearly turnover, which will benefit the country. For example, in Japan, many software companies offer their employees additional money to work overtime, so helping the economy.

This employer behaviour is not healthy at the individual level right now, and it may lead to a disastrous future for the country. According to the health sciences, an adult can work a maximum of 8 to 10 hours per day. For a total of 40 to 50 hours per week, and this is medically shown to be sufficient to maintain good health. Any more hours worked than this may result in a serious mental breakdown as well as other health disorders. Such as depression, as a result of stress and continual job overload.

To avoid this, business managers can provide their employees with fair and equitable breaks on the work. Such as holidays, picnics, excursions, and a variety of other recreational activities. For example, my cousin who works in a global firm is extremely healthy. And content emotionally and financially by working overtime. Since he is paid more and also gets enough vacation time to renew himself.

Based on the detailed debate in the preceding paragraphs, I eventually agree that a balanced mix of long work hours. And vacations would not only allow citizens to work healthily and successfully for the country now, but also in the future.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

Nowadays, in order to enhance output or productivity, many corporations need their staff to work longer hours. Some people believe that countries that value longer working hours will grow wealthy than those that do not. I completely disagree with the idea of working beyond regular hours to achieve economic success. With appropriate examples, this article will address the influence of increased production length in humans. And the aspects of obtaining monetary rewards within the usual working time.

To start with, the prolonged job length will result in a variety of health difficulties rather than increased production.

If a person spends the most of their time at work, they may have less time to spend with their family and will be unable to exercise to maintain their body fit. As a result, they become more stressed, and their blood pressure may rise as well. Furthermore, because of this type of illness, even after extended working hours, they are unable to give a decent productive outcome. According to a recent Japanese poll, the majority of employees prefer to take many vacations and attend seminars to ease stress caused by extended work hours. As a result, forcing humans to labour long hours will not help anyone.

On the other hand, combining contemporary technology and human labour may accelerate product delivery and hence benefit the economy. Artificial intelligence is being used in industrialised countries such as the United States, Germany, and France. In order to lower the work burden on employees. And such a strategy will undoubtedly produce good results without requiring individuals to labour for lengthy periods of time. Furthermore, those nations are urging their employees to maintain a work-life balance in order to increase their enthusiasm for their jobs. The German vehicle industry organisation acknowledges that after introducing a work-life balance scheme for their employees, their output rose.

To summarise, it is not essential to work for a long time to enhance the firms' or nations' economies. As this can be accomplished with the aid of healthy employees and current technology.
