Band 7 Answer

The chart displays numerous significant living challenges that people in seven major UK cities—Newcastle, Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, Glasgow, and London—had to deal with in 2008. A percentage is used to represent units.

Education and training came in second place, with health services coming in at the top of the list in most cities. Air pollution, which seemed to city dwellers in the UK to be five times less important on average that year, was the least concerning issue for them all.

More than 50% of local residents in five out of the seven cities cited access to health services as their top concern for daily life. In Belfast and Cardiff, where nearly 60% of residents were distressed, this was particularly true.

With the exception of Glasgow (53%) and London (52%) where it had become the biggest issue, education and training came in second for all city populations. This is with a difference between the two answers of less than 10%.

Only three cities reported more than ten percent of their residents concerned about air pollution: Manchester (16%), London (14%) and Cardiff (12%). Those in Newcastle, where only 5% of residents said that air pollution was a problem, were the least concerned.

In most cities, it can be argued that education and training were the two main problems, followed by health care. While air pollution remained a minor issue.

On the one hand, more than 50% of people live in Newcastle, Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, and London. These reported having complaints about the health services that were provided to them. Belfast and Cardiff have the highest rate, which is just under 60%.

In five of the seven cities, more than 50% of locals identified access to health services as their top daily worry. This was especially true in Belfast and Cardiff, where nearly 60% of the population was in distress.
