Level of Sports Players’ Salaries from 1970 to 2000 IELTS Writing Task 1 is an academic task. The IELTS academic writing task 1 deals with info-graphic questions. Topic: The graph below represents information about the level of sports players’ salaries from 1970 to 2000. Describe the information in the graph as per your understanding and make comparisons wherever possible.

The graph represents the annual pay of a sports player in US Dollars to the sport. It demonstrates that the salary of these athletes increased significantly within the timeframe shown. There are three sports depicted, namely, Basketball, Baseball, and Football. These were learned each year for the first 31 years, beginning in 1970.

Initially, in 1970, both football and baseball had the same pay. But basketball had the lowest compensation. The average salary of all three sports players was around $100,000. In 1975, basketball took a jump overlapping with the annual salary figure of baseball. The baseball and basketball pay were on wise, whereas the football players' yearly compensation declined in the same year. After 1975, baseball's annual salary continued to be a sandwich between the basketball and football players. These statistics grew roughly to $ 250,000 in 1980, a 150 percentage-point increase over the primary wage. Nonetheless, between 1980 and 2000, the incomes of basketball and baseball players increased exponentially, from around $ 250,000 to over $ 2,300,000 and nearly $ 1,600,000, respectively. It means, thirty years down the line, the basketball players were the most paid, followed by the baseball players and football players.

In crux, the annual salary of basketball players showed an uptrend throughout the years after 1970. The annual pay of baseball and football players has increased but remained below basketball which once had the lowest salary.
