Model Answer 1:

I'm writing to explain why I was unable to attend the company's annual business meeting last week.

First and foremost, I would want to express my regret for being unable to attend the business meeting. I understand the significance of the event, particularly in terms of networking and team development. My mother, on the other hand, underwent extensive spinal surgery last weekend, and I've been caring for her at home for the past week.

The operation was not life-threatening, but it was also not a common procedure. My mother needs daily care and has a long road to recovery ahead of her. My mother relied on me throughout this tough recuperation period since I am an only child, and my presence was a crucial component of her well-being. I have texted everyone in the office to explain why I couldn't make it and invited them to an informal after-work drink to let me know what I missed. If you could join us, it would be fantastic. I've booked a meeting with Mr. Kane from the Finance Department to follow up on what was discussed during the event. I'm certain that after meeting with Mr. Kane, I'll be brought up to speed with the rest of the team and ready to go to work.

Once again, I sincerely regret missing the activities and hope you understand the unavoidable circumstances that led to my absence.

Thank you for understanding

Model Answer 2

Mr. Undertaker,

I'd like to extend to you my heartfelt condolence I'm writing to explain why I won't be able to attend the annual corporate investment event. I apologize for missing work on such an important day with no prior warning.

Please allow me to explain my predicament. My mother fell while working in the kitchen, and I returned home after driving halfway to work. I rushed her to the hospital right away since she was in excruciating pain in her left knee and had localized edema. After an inspection, everything was found to be okay, and she was told to take a week off. In the midst of all of this, I completely neglected to tell you of my absence. Indeed, I was seated in the movie theatre with my smartphone turned off when you tried to call me last night. Then I forgot to turn it back on, so I didn't see your messages until this morning when I turned it back on.

Please accept my deepest apologies for my unexpected absence from work. To make up for this tragic occurrence, I would like to devote all of my time and energy to the event's unfinished objectives. I have texted everyone in the office to explain why I couldn't make it and invited them to an informal after-work drink to let me know what I missed. If you could join us, it would be fantastic. I am looking forward to completing this unfinished work and achieving the desired outcome. I'm looking forward to hearing back from you.

Thank you for taking the time to read this

Sincerely yours

Model Answer 3:

Mr. Khan,

I am writing to express my gratitude for your efforts.

I'm writing to express my regret for missing yesterday's budget meeting. I understand how essential these meetings are, especially as we prepare for the last quarter.

I was unable to attend due to a scheduling conflict. My absence was due to an hour-long delay in my meeting with the Chief Financial Officer discussing the Penske project. Mr. Wallace's office is on the 34th level of the Finley building, and it was already a quarter past three when we finished. In fact, I was sitting in the movie theatre with my smartphone turned off when you tried to call me last night. Then I forgot to turn it back on, so I didn't see your messages until this morning when I turned it back on.

I double-checked to be sure I had all of the budget details. Alice will email me the weather prediction, and Jane will send me the minutes. I'm having a similar problem. Today I'm having lunch with Jahan, and he'll answer any questions I have about what we spoke about. Again, I apologize for being unable to attend and hope you will understand the circumstances around my absence.

Yours truly
