John Matthews,

This is to say I'm sorry I'll be late to the meeting at 12.30 today. Two cars crashed into each other, causing a traffic jam on Newton Street, which is 5 miles from our office. Because of this, traffic had to stop. Also, it has taken the traffic cops almost an hour and a half to clear the accident site of traffic jams. I have to go a different way to get to the office because of this. On an average day, there is less traffic on the other routes.

Today, though, it's backed up because so many cars are trying to use it. So, I got to the office around 1 p.m. and missed the first 30 minutes of the meeting. I'm sorry again, and I promise that things like this won't happen again. From now on, I'll get to the office early. I will try to avoid getting stuck in traffic again.

I'm hoping to hear back quickly.

With best wishes,

Johnson Davis

Dear Amit

Please understand that I'm sorry I won't be able to make the meeting this Wednesday. I'm so sorry I can't make it to such an important meeting.

I was about to leave the office to meet with you when my daughter's teacher called to tell me that she had a high fever. The teacher told me she is very sick and needs to be taken to the hospital. I left right away to help her, and then I got her admitted to a nearby hospital. She is getting better day by day.

In this whole situation, I forgot to call you and tell you how important it was. Later, when I realized I hadn't told you I wouldn't be able to make it to the meeting, I felt bad about it. I'm sorry if you had to wait too long.

I've already talked to Mr. Smith and found out what happened at the meeting. Again, I'm sorry for not being there. I'm looking forward to seeing you at the next meetings.

Yours faithfully,

John

Dear Mr. Jones

I'm writing you to tell you why I'm going to be late to the meeting today.

Unfortunately, I had to take my grandfather to the hospital at 9 a.m., which kept me from getting to the office until 11 a.m.

My grandfather is 90 years old, and since he was 70, he has had heart trouble. He woke up feeling sick, and since I was the only family member around at the time, I had no choice but to rush him to the hospital so a doctor could check on him as soon as possible.

I'm sorry for this problem, which I didn't see coming. To make up for my two-hour absence, I'm ready to work extra hours on Wednesday and Thursday, leaving the office at 7 pm instead of 6 pm. I hope you can understand my situation.

With best wishes,

Pablo
