Letter to Your Local Council That the Road in Front of Your House is Damaged IELTS Writing Task 1 is a letter writing topic. The letter needs to address the local council of your area. Respected Sir,

I am Akhil Joshi, residing in KMS Homes apartment, BTM, Sector 1, Bangalore. I would like to draw your sincere attention to the damaged road in front of our building. This has happened due to the water supplier of the area.

Recently, the water supplier dug the road to repair the water pipeline. They came from the municipality and repaired the water pipeline. However, after finishing the job, the road was left unrepaired. One side of the road is fully damaged and only half is available for transport. This is causing unnecessary traffic and accidents. People are unable to walk on the road due to the mud and gravels on the road. It is becoming very difficult for local residents to travel and get out of their house. The rainy season is arriving and if the mud and gravel stays on the road, it will be too slippery to walk on. There are kids and children who are unable to leave the apartment due to the condition of the road.

There are many potholes and the pitch cover of the road has come off. The shopkeepers are facing issues as the road in front of their shops is totally damaged. The common people cannot go to the shops to buy groceries. The shopkeepers have made makeshift platforms for them to cross the damaged road. Office cabs are unable to come near the home. I have to walk almost 500 metres everyday to board the cab. The damaged road is really causing trouble in day-to -day life.

I would request you to look into this matter as soon as possible. The people of our locality will be very obliged if this issue can be solved at the earliest.

Respected Madam,

I would like to bring to your notice that the road in front of our apartment is fully damaged. I am Anish Bannerjee, staying at Kasba. The apartment is named Anando Abason and is just beside Kasba Market Road. This happened when the internet service provider was laying underground cables. I agree that this was required but the service providers did not repair the road after finishing the work.

The internet service providers dug one side of the road to lay the cables. After the job was done, they just filled the hole with mud and left. We are facing great difficulty for this. Almost half of the road is damaged. During the peak hours, this results in huge traffic. We are getting delayed for everything starting from the office to getting groceries and returning home. We already had a meeting internally within our apartment. We also called the service providers to complain about the issue. They informed me that they have done what they could from their end. It is now the job of the municipal corporation to build the road.

The rainy season has already started and all the mud on the road is spreading. The road has become slippery and is very prone to accidents. Children are unable to leave the apartment. Everyone has to walk almost a kilometre to board buses and other public transport. This has caused great difficulty for the people living in our building. The potholes have filled up with mud and water which makes them not visible. This is damaging the bikes and cars causing accidents.

I would request you on behalf of the members of our apartment to look into this matter as soon as possible. I would be really obliged if you can check the issue and fix it.

Respected Sir,

I am a resident of your locality. My name is Abbas Sheikh and I stay near the local market. My apartment is 42/1 Dr. Suresh Poddar Road. I am writing this letter to let you know about an issue that we are facing. The road in front of my apartment has been damaged by the workers who were repairing an electric pole. The electricity was causing trouble for a few days and hence, we raised a complaint.

The electric technicians came and found that the underground wiring had an issue. They had to dig the road and repair the connection. The electric line was repaired but they damaged the road in front. On asking, they informed me that they cannot do anything about this. We need to raise the issue with the road department. I was really pissed off because it is the responsibility of the workers who damaged the road. However, I understand that there must be a hierarchy that needs to be followed. Hence, I am writing this letter.

The road is severely damaged and no vehicles can go. We have installed a makeshift plank across the road so that the pedestrians could walk. As the damage is just in front of the gate, vehicles are unable to enter from the front gate. We had to open the backgate for vehicles. Due to this damaged part, it is causing lots of traffic. Also, as you know that the rainy season is about to begin, the road will get more damaged if not repaired now. People go to the market every time via this road. Now they have to go around which is causing trouble and traffic.

It is my earnest request to look into this matter. I would be g;lad if you could take this up to the appropriate department and solve the problem as soon as possible.
