Letter to the Teacher Regarding a Course That You Didn’t Complete IELTS Writing Task 1 is a letter writing topic. The letter follows a semi-formal approach. The candidate has to address their teacher and mention the reason for discontinuing their course. Also thank them and explain the situation. It contains three model answers that have three paragraphs namely the introduction, body, and conclusion. The letter must be clear and to the point.

Band 7 IELTS Letter

Dear Ms.Orris,

I am Sarah, one of our students in the post graduation course in Xaviers University. I am writing this letter to inform you that I might not be able to continue the course further. There are some serious reasons regarding the same.

As you are aware I am an international student. My native country is India. The first reason for discontinuation of the course is that I am returning back to my home country. The reason for my return is the financial condition of my family. They can not afford the course further and it would be difficult for them to take loans and make me continue the course because it will leave them in debt. So, I have been offered a full-time job in my own country by a named company. It will be really helpful for me to take that job. It will help my family financially and I will be able to take care of them as well.

I am very thankful to you for your valuable knowledge and cooperation. I have always enjoyed your lectures and the knowledge you gave me is very precious. I have always received a lot of cooperation and appreciation from you. I will always remember the valuable life lessons you provided me. I wish I could gain more knowledge from you if possible in future.

The reason for my return is the severe health problems of my younger sister. My younger sister is diagnosed with Asthma and lives with my mother. But she has been facing severe asthma attacks lately and it is becoming difficult for my mother to take care of her. Also, our family is facing financial problems due to the treatment of my sister. There is no one else to earn in the family. So, it will be difficult to afford the course and continue it further. I will have to go back to my native country and get a job as well as pay for the proper treatment of my sister.

I am very thankful to you for your valuable knowledge and cooperation. You have always been my favorite teacher and you will always be. You have taught me to have a positive look towards life and apply psychology in practical life situations. I have never skipped a class of yours.
