Letter To The Local Representative About The Camera Details IELTS General Writing Task 1 deals with letter-writing questions. This IELTS writing task 1 consists of three model answers. Candidates need to write a formal letter to the local representative of the camera company. The model answer focuses on the details of the store from where camera was purchased. It also states what is the issue. The formal letter must include an introduction, main body and conclusion stating the issue and seeking remedy.
The general writing task questions in IELTS writing task 1 require candidates to write a letter on the given topic in at least 150 words. IELTS writing score is marked based on band scores. Write a letter to the local representative of the company. 

In your letter:

  • give details of the camera and where you bought it
  • explain what has happened
  • say what you want him/her to do about it

Band 7 IELTS Letter

Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing this letter to draw your attention to a Nikon camera which had some missing items in the box. I bought this camera from the store at the Delhi airport on 22 June. This letter is to inform you that the charger has been missing from the new package. To explain in detail, I work for a world press agency that constantly must-visit the newest updates.

Recently during a visit to Australia I had a layover in Bangkok. The offer on DSLR 2D cameras given by Nikon grabbed my attention because it is provided with all the new features. I was billed for 240$ and they handed me a replacement sealed camera. I have also attached the billed receipt for your further proceeding. As time was passing quickly I boarded my flight without a cross-check of the box. Upon reaching my destination I was disappointed to find out that the charger had been missing. the charger is an essential part of the camera and its absence has left me devastaed. I am already at my location of vacation and I really need the charger to use my camera. Now, I will not be able to use the camera without the charger. I will be really glad if you can send the charger to the below-mentioned address. To satisfy my job requirements the camera is mandatory hence it might be appreciated if you'll answer me swiftly.

Band 7.5 IELTS Letter

Respected Sir,
My name is Sashank. I am a customer of Nikon and have unbelievable faith in the company. I already own 3 Nikon cameras and 6 lenses. I am writing with the hope that you will be able to help me to resolve a problem regarding a camera that I have bought recently. On January 15th 2021, I purchased a camera DSLR 700 from the franchise of NIKON at Dubai duty free airport.

The camera cost the 300$ along side the tripod and additional lens. During this payment procedure, there was the last announcement for the flight. While rushing back to my boarding counter, I felt there's a call from the salesman. He came to handover the additional lens and tripod which I forgot at the store. I later packed those in my Hand carry. As I reached back to my home, I also couldn’t find the additional optical lens. Moreover, when I opened the box of the camera, I found the Nikon battery Charger was missing. The space within the box for the charger was empty. I was highly disappointed as I did not expect such misplacement of an important part of the camera. 

Now I'm in Turkey, and am going back to Pakistan via Dubai. Since you’re the representative for the corporate at Dubai Duty free franchise, I am writing this letter to you. I would request you to kindly arrange the shipment of my leftover equipment which I bought from your store. I’m sharing the copy of the purchase receipt attached along with this letter. I hope you would be able to cooperate regarding the same. Hence, I would be obliged if it is sent to my address as soon as possible. I anticipate a short response shortly.

Band 8 IELTS Letter 

Dear Madam,
I have recently bought a Samsung camera from your showroom. I was very excited to use the camera. Once I reached my destination, I opened the box to find that the camera was not working. I also tried to return the camera to the showroom at Dubai airport but without any positive result. I am writing this letter with a hope to have my camera replaced by a new one. I bought a Samsung NX410 40MP camera from the store located just outside the Dubai airport on 5th December. Unfortunately, it malfunctioned just after I took it home.

It is not clicking pictures and it turns off automatically. The very next day, I visited your showroom and talked to Cynthia, one among your representatives, who assured me that the camera would get replaced within 24 hours. Once I called her again, she told me that it might take a couple of more days and would be repaired rather than being replaced. Once I demanded the rationale, but she did not answer.

It has been almost a week since I purchased the camera from your store. I will be leaving Dubai by the end of next week as I am on a trip here. I am hoping that this letter will be helpful to get my issue sorted. I’m attaching the receipt of the acquisition. I still believe your brand reputation. I am hoping that you will take an immediate action against the misconduct I experienced.
