Band 8 IELTS Letter

Dear Mr Richard,

I am writing this letter to inform you about a concern that I had yesterday night. This is to inform you about the damages my car had to bear. Yesterday night, I saw your son parking his car in the lane in front of my house. While parking his car, he hit my car that was already parked in the outside parking area. This resulted in a huge dent on the bonnet and the bumper also broke. The front headlights were also affected but they did not break. They are not lighting up anymore.

I am very disappointed with this incident. This car is the only mode of transport that I have since my office is very far from my home. Now, I am unable to drive it to the office. I am in a situation where I do not know what to do. Since it was your son and he already said sorry for this, I would like to make some suitable suggestions that are advantageous for both of us. I would request you to pay two thirds of the amount for repair and maintenance. I would also request your son to park the vehicle in your garage and I will also be doing the same.

Please have a chat with your son and let me know the decision you have made. It will be helpful if you can accept the above conditions and pay as requested. I am awaiting your kind response on this subject.

Yours Sincerely,
Charles

Band 7 IELTS Letter

Hi Mr. Smith

I hope this letter finds you to the best of your health. We have been staying near one another for a long time now. I did not have any complaints till now. But, this time, unfortunately, I am whining about the damage caused to my car.

Yesterday evening I found a big scratch on my car. I was wondering how it would have happened since I did not meet any accidents. Later that evening I was talking to my sister and she said that your car was parked very close to mine. I then checked the CCTV footage which confirmed that the back side of your car was bumped into mine while you were parking it.

I do understand that accidents might happen anywhere and at any time. I know that it was never your intention to cause damage to my car. The video also proved the same as you were trying to squeeze your car in. I am a bit sad as I purchased the car recently. I will definitely get the scratch repaired. However, I would suggest you be a bit more cautious when passing by another car or parking near the house where another car is already parked. I am sure you are not even aware of it. Also, I hope this did not sound rude.

I hope that you will pay heed to my good-neighborly advice to avoid such an unwarranted situation in future.

Thanks and regards,
Wade Mathew

Band 6.5 IELTS Letter

Hi Jason,

I am writing this letter to complain about the damage done to my car. I am really disappointed and sad about this. The disappointment is because of the negligence shown from your end.

This morning, while parking your car, you hit my car and the rear side was completely damaged. Due to the impact, the rear bumper is completely out of place and cannot be refixed. The backlight is also completely damaged. I just bought the car and such damage is unbearable. I can still fix the bumper but the lights are completely out of my budget.

I am really frustrated and did not expect this from your end. Recently, I carried out the overhauling of my vehicle and since then I have been taking great care of it. The maintenance of the car also costs me a great amount of money. I understand that it might not be intentional but the damage is already done.

It is my earnest request to pay for the compensation because my vehicle does not have any insurance. I have already contacted the technician and they informed me that it would cost around USD 1500 for the lights and USD 500 for the bumper. I am okay with paying for the bumper. I would request you to pay for the backlight.

I will be awaiting your response as soon as possible.

Yours sincerely,
Thomas
