Letter to a Manager of a Company for a Book Ordered Online IELTS General Writing Task 1 is a letter-writing topic. Topic: You have recently ordered a book online, but the book was delayed and has not arrived yet. Write a letter to the company manager and say

Respected sir/madam,

This is regarding the delay in the delivery of the book I ordered online. I am a regular user of the online portal your company has created for buying books along with offline stores. This time the delay in the delivery has created dismay and a change in schedule.

I had placed an order for the book “The psychology of money” by Morgan Mousel. The order number JZ34556644 was placed on 1st July 2022 on the official website of www.readersworld.com and was supposed to be delivered by 3rd July 2022. I have a membership of Reader’s world to avail all the benefits and perks of super-fast delivery, discounts, etc. The book was expected to arrive on 3rd July 2022 as I had to gift this book to my colleague who was flying abroad. Being a huge fan of reading books like me and especially a Morgan Mousel fan, I planned to gift the latest book as a Bon Voyage present.

My colleague’s flight to New York has been scheduled for the 8th of July 2022 and for that reason I had selected the online delivery option. The city I reside in currently does not have the Reader’s world outlet which makes it more difficult now. Having a chain of outlets in the entire country, I request to check and revert if there is any availability of the aforementioned book. The urgency to gift the same book to my colleague is very important to me. He helped me acclimatize when I was a fresher, he looked after my growth and made sure I settled properly and was never overburdened. This book is a sign of respect and appreciation for all the things he has done for me to date.

The reader’s world has a chain of outlets in all metro cities. I suggest the company manager contact the Ahmedabad outlet as it is nearest to my city and my colleague’s flight to New York is from the same place. If the book outlet has the mentioned book, I will share my copy of the bill and request to deliver the book to the given address. I am already running short of time and require the book’s delivery as soon as possible. Please take action and revert to the issue.

Respected sir/madam,

This is regarding the delay in the delivery of the book I ordered online. I am a regular user of the online portal your company has created for buying books along with a regular visitor at the offline stores. This time the delay in the delivery has created a lot of disturbance and forced us to change plans.

The order number WQV573890 was placed on 30th June 2022 and the expected delivery was 2nd July 2022 for the book “Sita: Warrior of Mithila” by Amish on the official website www.readersclub.com.The order was placed for 50 copies which had to be distributed on the next day of arrival. The mythological marvel was supposed to be donated to the orphanage I regularly visit. 3rd July 2022 held importance as the orphanage was celebrating 25 years of its foundation. As I am a premium member of the Readers Club, I was assured that the delivery would reach before the aforementioned date. The delay in the delivery has caused a lot of inconveniences as such a big amount of books is unavailable at the outlet.

The urgency for this particular book was the content it carried, the manner in which it showcased women's empowerment in the form of Sita, her mother, and how they handled the entire kingdom back then. The orphanage I visit has many girls, who are bright and brilliant. By gifting this book, I wanted to motivate the girls about their hidden talents and the boys about always respecting the opposite gender. The mentioned discount was available only till 3rd July 2022 for premium members on books purchased online.

I had made the entire payment for the 50 copies and availed discount. Now due to the delay in delivery, I have lost a lot of time and seek compensation for the loss. There are about 4 Reader’s club outlets in Ahmedabad city. I suggest the company’s manager contact them and arrange the number of copies mentioned. As the city has many stores, the number of copies can be arranged. I have attached my order summary along with this for your reference.

I have already missed the date of delivery and require the books to be delivered as soon as possible. Please take action and revert to the issue.

The order number RT567833 was placed on the 2nd July 2022 for the book “Living for a legacy”, which was supposed to be delivered by 5th July 2022. The second book ordered was “How to enjoy your life and job” by Dale Carnegie with order number SD3422278 was placed on the same day and is expected to arrive on 5th July 2022. The third book ordered from the official website of the company with order number TG45888990 was “The mastery manual” by Robin Sharma which was placed on 2nd July and expected to arrive on 5th July 2022. All three books were ordered from www.readersclub.com as I am a premium member of the club. Being a member offers many perks like super-fast delivery, discounts, etc.

The mentioned books were ordered as it was for immediate use. I had to conduct a seminar on “How to stay motivated” for college students on the 6th July 2022. I had to give references to the three books I had ordered. Due to the delay, I was unable to make a presentation on the topic and had to change the reference books at the last moment. Being a regular premium user, I did not expect this. There were a few motivation books I had in my collection which helped me at the last moment or else I had to cancel the entire seminar.

I would like to suggest to the company’s manager that the outlets present in the city should also have a wider collection like that on the online platform. I visited the stores but they did not have many genres of books, especially the ones I needed. The reason they gave me was nowadays people are shopping more online than visiting the store so they did not update the stock. Being a chain of bookstores across the country, the Readers club should have the same set of books in ample amounts so that inconveniences like this are not caused.

I have attached a copy of my online payment along with this for your reference. I have already missed the date of delivery and require the books to be delivered as soon as possible or get compensation. Please take action and revert to the issue.
