Letter To A Friend's Grandfather To Stay at His Apartment IELTS General Writing Task 1 is a letter writing topic. Candidates are to construct this letter in a semi-formal approach. Topic: You are going to spend your vacation in Rome, Italy. Your friend’s grandfather lives there and has offered to let you stay in his apartment.

Write a letter to your friend’s grandfather. In your letter:

Thank him for the offer but politely decline.
Inform him of when you will be in Rome and your travel plans.
Invite him for an outing

Hope this letter finds you well. This is Devashish; Raman’s friend. We have been friends from the very first year of our Under Graduation course at SRM University, Bengaluru. You might recall that I had a brief visit to your house on the eve of Diwali, with few friends of ours.

I am so grateful to your family for hosting the event that day, the hospitality and warmth that day made me feel at home.

I am pleased to inform you that I will be visiting Bengaluru for three days in the first week of October for my internship assignment. The best part about it is that the place happens to be in the very area where you stay- North Industrial Area. I am really excited to be able to meet you and your family after a long time.

Although I have been offered a guest house where I can choose to stay, I was wondering if I could come over to your place as it’s just for three days in effect. It has been so long since we met and I am looking forward to spending some quality time with you people and expressing my gratitude towards you for the love you gave me and my friends during our Alma- Mater in Bengaluru. I especially miss the delicious dinner prepared by grandma and aunt on Diwali eve, trust me I have never got the chance to taste the same Biryani prepared by Grandma on that day.

I would be delighted to pay for my stays as I shall be doing the same at the guest house, but having a homely time with you would mean a lot to me.

Please don’t hesitate to let me know if it would be inconvenient in any way as it would be totally understandable. The travel dates are still tentative and once I hear from you I shall share the exact date and time of arrival at your place.
