Model Answer 1:

Dear Sayantan and Mriga,

I hope you are keeping well. I am still mesmerised by the memories of the weekend that I spent in your house. Thanks to you both for the lovely retreat out of the city and the photos you sent to me the previous week.

Kerala is undoubtedly a beautiful state with world-famous backwaters, breathtaking landscape, greenery and wildlife. Alongside such natural beauty, the hospitality shown by you bolstered the experience in my mind.

I am incredibly sorry since it took so long for me to write back to you. No sooner did I reach Kolkata than my boss sent me to an urgent project to New Delhi, and I returned only yesterday. Furthermore, I also had to visit the doctor for a nasty throat infection. I am fine now.

Please consider my invitation to come and visit Kolkata during the Durga Puja or the festivities surrounding the worship of Goddess Durga. I hope you remember the countless tales I have told you about the city during the five days of the festivities, and, indeed, you will never experience any of this in any other part of India. Besides, we will have different cuisines on all the additional days, and one of them is reserved for Bengali cuisine. I am sure you two will love it.

I am looking forward to seeing you soon during the festive season. Take care and write back.

Warm wishes,

Biplab

Model Answer 2:

Dear Mimi and Priya,

I congratulate you both for getting the funding for your project. I still remember that you two were working tirelessly even during the holiday that I spent at your place. Thank you so much for giving me a much-required break from my office and client meetings. I have received the photos, and they look so fantastic. I never thought I looked so beautiful, and probably having you two lovely ladies with me has certainly exposed me to the charm.

I have always loved the hills, and having two friends in Darjeeling has made me the luckiest girl alive! To be honest, probably the local food was not that great, but you two pampered me even during your busy schedule by cooking authentic kababs and biryani for me. You two are such a lovely host and fantastic cook.

But before I invite you, let me tell you how sorry I am for not writing back to you soon after getting the pictures and the letter. I had to visit my mother, and she currently lives outside the city. It was a very hectic week, too, since I had to complete a lot of paperwork belonging to my mother.

I know you have a big project coming up in November, but you should visit during December since you two are free during December. However, forget the usual city Christmas. We will be going on a long road trip at the end of which there will be the long flat sea beaches lining the Bay of Bengal. That will be my Christmas gift to you, and I also think it is very appropriate. You showed me the beauty of the mighty hills, and I will show you the majestic ocean.

I look forward to your confirmation and writing back to me soon!

Yours lovingly,

Simran

Model Answer 3:

Dear Sneha and Vikram,

I hope you two are enjoying your trip to Italy. I got your pictures only yesterday, and they look so colourful. I hope I can again go back to Rajasthan at your place the following year. It was a great time, and I enjoyed the stay thoroughly at your home.

What a trip it was! Many people think that Rajasthan is only full of deserts, and I even used to think so. This time you two changed my whole perception. When I was in Udaipur, I never thought that Rajasthan could have such beautiful lakes and such pretty buildings in the middle of those lakes. Apart from all the prominent forts and mesmerising history, I was finally very excited to see the desert. However, what astonished me was how the small communities have adapted both their lives and livelihood to the moods of the desert. Indeed, the desert is not so lifeless.

Sorry for my late response, because since coming back, there have been substantial power cuts in the city. I could not even work in the office since the power was gone for a couple of days. Now when everything is normal, I can finally write back to you.

I am inviting you to come to visit me in Arunachal Pradesh. I doubt that you will be astonished because it is the complete opposite of what Rajasthan is. You will feel rain, cold and wet weather with lush greenery and quiet countryside.

Looking forward to your letter and hopefully your visit. Wishing you a safe journey to France.

Yours lovingly,

Tenzing
