Letter to a Friend Who Has Recently Become Engaged IELTS General Writing Task 1 is a letter writing topic. Dear Malini,

How have you been? I hope you are in good health. I am writing this letter to show my happiness on hearing your engagement news. Congratulations to both of you. I saw your pictures on your Instagram feed. I feel so happy to see you both together. You both were my classmates. You both look great together. I am sorry for not being able to attend the engagement. I was outstation and I was unaware of the invitation sent at my residence.

I am delighted to recall the memories we spent together. And now see we are grown up and getting married. Others will be getting married soon. It feels amazing to see your classmate and childhood friend getting married and getting happiness. I would always pray that you get what you desire for.

Also, we all friends have decided to give you an engagement party. As I was unable to attend the party, I would love to do it now. We will make all the arrangements and you along with your fiance are invited to the celebration. It will be a friends gathering.

I will mail you the address. Looking forward to meeting with you.

How are you? I Hope you and your family are doing well! I am writing this letter to congratulate you and show my happiness on the news of your engagement. I found out regarding your ring ceremony on my Facebook news feed. I was active on Facebook and suddenly I saw the ceremony pictures. You looked amazing. I have seen your images of the function either and both of you look perfect together. You are made for each other. Unfortunately I saw your Invitation on my Facebook Messenger only after the day of your ceremony.

Due to my workload pressure I was inactive on social media handles. So, I apologize for missing out on the ceremony. You are the first person to get engaged in our friends circle, soon we will be attending a lot of other's engagement ceremonies.

I have decided to throw a tiny get together in the happiness of your engagement. I think it would be a great alternative.
