Letter to a Friend to Look After Your House in Your Absence IELTS General Writing Task 1

Till the time I will be away, kindly water my garden once a day since you know how much my flowers and plants mean to me. Also I have stocked up the refrigerator but if you still need anything else, there is some money in an envelope on the counter. I have talked with the newspaper boy so that you can collect newspapers from him. In addition to that, Mrs Hernandez, the cleaning lady comes around 7pm every day to clean around the house. She has the keys so she will let herself in. Don’t forget to set the security alarm every night before you go to bed. Also keep the porch lights on at night. Do answer any call that comes on the landline. Another important thing is my pet cat. She needs to be fed three times a day. Mrs hernandez knows about her meals and timing. Kindly, give her cat food kept above the refridgerator, before you go to sleep. My work is extremely urgent, considering my mother’s health is not good. I have to visit her and I cannot tell you how grateful I would be if you could come to take care of my house. I hope that you find the utmost convenience and comfort at my place. In case of any emergency requirement there is a contact book which I have kept in the living room beside the sofa. Feel free to call the emergency numbers listed on the first page of the diary. I shall treat you after I return home.

You can find the address and the phone numbers on the sticky note on the refrigerator door. You can reach out to me anytime you feel like or drop a text on WhatsApp. There are certain things which I must consider important for you to follow because it is about my dog. My dog needs to be fed thrice a day- morning, noon and night. You can find the feeder along with the food in the left kitchen cabinet. Also do take him out on walks in the evening at a time comfortable to you. Keep him as hydrated as possible as he is on medications. In case you need to call the vet, I have jotted down the number on a sticky note on the refrigerator door. Further, I have a parcel which is supposed to comy by wednesday. The payment mode is cash on delivery and I have kept the amount on the first drawer of the side table near my bed. Kindly collect the parcel. I will hand over the keys of my home to my neighbour living opposite my flat. Please collect it from her when you reach my home on Monday evening as I shall leave in the Morning of Monday. In addition, please water the plants on the kitchen sill my balcony as they need constant watering everyday. You will find some money on the kitchen counter in an envelope in case of any emergency or you need any grocery items. I hope it will be useful to you this week.

I also needed to inform you about my maid who comes at 11am in the morning for an hour. Also, I need you to take care of my pet dog, Bruno. My dog needs to be fed thrice a day- morning, noon and night. He can eat anything which is non-veg but not anything oily. Alternatively, you may find the dog food in the lower right side of the kitchen cabinet. Since it is summer, he needs to be kept hydrated as much as possible. Further, I have delivery package from Amazon which is supposed to arrive when I am absent. It is a prepaid order so you only need to collect the parcel. It has valuable glass items so please keep it at a higher place inside the cupboard so that it is safe. I know you would be responsible in taking care of my home. I have kept all the necessary food items in the fridge and in the kitchen. I have also arranged some cash in case you need to buy some stuff. Kindly, make use of it while I am gone and I shall come back and meet you soon. WIll share all the details of my vacation with you.
