Letter to Your Friend Who is Visiting Your Apartment While You Are Gone IELTS Writing Task 1 is a letter writing topic. Candidates are required to address their friends informally. It contains three model answers that have three paragraphs namely the introduction, body, and conclusion. The letter must be clear and to the point.

Band 6 IELTS Letter

Dear Sushant,
I came to know from your last letter that you are coming to stay in my apartement for a few days. First of all I want to apologise for not able to welcome you to my house. I have provided all the details about my apartment because I will be absent when you come to stay there. Please consider it as your own for a week.

I have kept the key just above the door frame. It is not the safest system, but the easiest place that I could remember. If it’s not there for any reason, please do not hesitate to call me. I can ask the neighbour to hand you the duplicate key. My apartment will be an absolute mess when you will be reaching. The night before leaving, I had an office party. You will most probably see pizzas and chips in the drawing-room. You can ask the maid who will be attending during the morning to clean up the mess. There are few pets around the apartment and I feed them regularly. Since I already know your love for dogs, I am pretty sure they will be totally fine in my absence. Hope they will not give you trouble. I am hoping you would stay for a longer period so that while I return after a few days we might hang around together as well.

Finally, sorry for giving you trouble like this but on the day I return, there will be a big surprise waiting for you. If you need to go outside you can tape the key back up above the doorframe or give it to the neighbours. You don’t need to be afraid of my neighbours as they are friendly enough. The key will be safe with them.

Dear Shreya,
I am writing to give you all the details about my apartment because I am going to ask you to come to stay here for a week. This will also work as a break for you during the excessive boredom of work-from-home.

As you know I was thinking about buying an apartment in south Kolkata near my workplace. My dreams came true as I found a luxury apartment within my budget. I shifted here just two weeks ago and almost arranged all my stuff. I generally stay in my office till late evening and hence couldn’t do justice to this amazing place by decorating it. Hence, I thought, who better than an interior designer herself. I will be going out of town for a week. Hence, I thought that this will be the best time when you can stay and also decorate the place. I really need to leave the city because I have an important conference that I need to attend in Delhi. I will be gone for three days and by that time you can plan out all the necessary interior decoration that might be suitable.
I will give a brief explanation about my home. My apartment is south facing, 10th floor with a big balcony. The view from here is very beautiful. Almost the whole city is observable from here. There is a three-bedroom, a long dining room, a kitchen, and two washing rooms. Indoor and outdoor playrooms, gyms, and parking places with accommodation are available.

I know that you have no excuse to say no to come here. Mom and Dad are out of the station and they will come in the next few months. So, my apartment is the perfect place for you to stay. I also think about inviting Natasha and Tania for a weekend party once I return. You will enjoy it a lot.

Dear Subhasis,
I am writing to give you all the details about my apartment because I am going to ask you tostay at my house as I will be going to Mumbai for my job.

We have known each other for a while but you never come to my house. From Vijay, I heard that you are looking for a place to stay for a few weeks. It will be a great mutually beneficial deal if you insist on coming to my house and staying. It will be my pleasure to host you, though I will not be there. I am extremely happy that you decided to come stay at my place.

However, I feel guilty for not being able to welcome you. I am actually leaving he city for around three days due to some emergency bacl at home in Delhi. I would be back in three days time but I have arranged everything at my place to make you comfortable. I am telling you some details regarding my home and the surrounding area so that it is convenient for you. My flat is opposite the City Mall in Park Street. From this place hospitals, markets, and schools are a very short distance. The society and neighbours are well behaved and helpful. It hardly takes 15 minutes by car from your house. If you find any problem finding my home, just call me and I will guide you.

The keys are always kept beneath the doormat of the front door. There are two-bedroom, one kitchen and two bathrooms. The whole apartment is well furnished and designed. I invite you to come to my place with your family and stay. If you find any issues, you can give me a call. I have also informed my society manager about your stay. He will be very happy to take care of you. Once I return, we will have a part as we did not meet for so long.
