Letter to a Friend about a Foreign Trip IELTS General Writing Task 1 is a letter writing topic. Candidates are asked to write a formal letter. Each of the three sample responses contains an introduction, a body, and a conclusion in three paragraphs. The letter must be brief and to the point.
For IELTS General Writing Task 1, letters can be written in formal, informal, or semi-formal styles. The candidates must complete the task in 20 minutes. Students can consider their preparation for the writings section from the IELTS Writing Practice Papers and enhance their writing skills effectively. IELTS writing score is marked based on band scores. The band scores range from 0 to 9.

Dear Sameera,
I hope you’re doing well with your college studies. I hope everybody at your home is keeping well. I have been out of the country for a while and was not able to come to the party you had for your excellent results at home, for which I apologize. I am writing you this letter to tell you about my trip to Maldives with my college friend, Sanya. I had a long vacation overdue considering I have been busy with my work. I did not take a holiday for the past two years and I needed a break to enjoy and relax in a place where there is less crowd. After a long drawn plan, my friend Sanya and I decided to take a long break for ten days and relax on the island of Maldives. From the sea beach to the resort we stayed in was entirely beautiful. We had the most amazing food and went swimming and chilling for hours. We also visited the nearby markets and churches as well which were really breathtaking. The time I enjoyed there without the pressure of work made me feel relaxed and that is what I enjoyed the most. Right now, I am back in India and I am still in a fresh and relaxed mood. While I would love to explain and tell you stories about all the adventures that we did in Maldives, I have to work this entire week. However, I would love for you to visit me this weekend and we could catch up about my trip as well as I would get to know about your college life as well. Hoping to hear from you soon.

I hope you’re healthy and well and enjoying your college life in Delhi. I hope my uncle and aunt are keeping well. I recently went to Singapore as part of my work from the office because of which I missed your function at your college. I am writing you this letter to tell you about my trip to Singapore with my office friend and colleague, Aryan. While I went to Singapore for official work, I enjoyed my time with my colleague and some friends I made at the Singapore office as well. We went to Singapore for around two weeks staying at the company, provided accommodation, and carried out our work. However, with three days extra as part of our trip, we decided to roam around Singapore, and trust me, it was one of the best trips ever. I am back in India now and while I enjoyed my trip considering the business deal is sealed, I also enjoyed my entire time in the country. I would love to tell you stories about all the fun we had in Singapore, but unfortunately, I have to work this week. I was out of the country for a trip with my friend to Dubai considering that I was unable to visit you after your convocation. I need to let you know everything about my foreign trip to Dubai which was extremely fun and relaxing. I would love to thank you for suggesting that I visit Dubai as I was mesmerized when I saw the pictures of your vacation with your family. I enjoyed every tourist spot and I went to eat at the restaurants you told me about, which has been amazing. I really loved everything about Dubai. Although the city is very hot in terms of weather, I loved everything I bought from the city. I clicked a number of photos and I can’t wait to share them with you. I needed this break for a long time as I was completely stressed with my work. I enjoyed the week’s trip to Dubai immensely and I would love to sit face to face and tell you about it. Why don’t you visit me for lunch next week and we shall discuss everything about Dubai. While I have become busy with my work and my shifting to the new apartment I rented near my office, next week’s meeting is what you need to confirm for me. I hope to receive your response soon.
