Letter to a Company Reporting a Fault in a Rented Car IELTS General Writing Task 1 is a letter-writing topic. Candidates are required to address the company in a formal tone. Topic: You rented a car from Car Rental Company. The air conditioner has stopped working. You phoned the company a week ago but it still has not been repaired. Write a letter to the company. In your letter

Respected Sir,
I am Raj Singh, a resident of Vasant Kunj, New Delhi. This letter comes to you with the hope that you will look into a complaint I registered on 23rd May and take action at the earliest.
It was on the 13th of May that I rented a car from your company RentEazy’s New Delhi branch. The reason was that for the next 2 weeks, I had to work in Gurugram. Having no car of my own, I rented a car from your company. Your company was also rated 4+ stars on all major websites. I specifically asked for a car with air conditioning because Delhi summers are very hot.
For the first few days, there was no problem with the rented vehicle. However, on the morning of the 23rd, after traveling a few kilometers, I realized it was very hot in the car. This was even though I had switched on air conditioning. By the time I reached Gurugram, I was sweating profusely. At traffic light stops and traffic jams, it felt as if I was sitting in an oven. After reaching my destination, I immediately registered a complaint on your company website. I got a reply immediately assuring me that they will send someone to look into the matter. But, 5 days have passed since and your company has sent no one to look into the matter. Now, this problem has started to affect my work schedule because now I have to take the metro to reach my office. It is because of this reason that I rented a car in the first place.
I hope you understand my situation and take the necessary action immediately. I have a right to a solution to this issue under the terms of the rental agreement. I have all the necessary receipts in case you wish to check them. I would appreciate it if you could either fix the car's air conditioning system in the next 24 hours or get a new one.

Respected Madam,
I am Shruti Sinha. I am a resident of Bengaluru. On 7th June, I rented a car from your company’s Bengaluru branch for a week. It was a 5-seater Sedan named Swift Dzire. I even paid a premium so that I can get a car with good air conditioning because the summers in Bengaluru are quite rough. I paid the bill and signed the rental agreement. I took the rented car to drive home that night. I even reached home without facing any hiccups.
However, the unfortunate thing happened the very next day. As I was on my way to Coimbatore for vacation, I realized that the temperature in the car was very hot. That’s when I realized that something is wrong with the air conditioning. A stopped the car nearby and looked into the matter. After some time, I found out that the coolant had leaked. Luckily, I was still on the outskirts of Bengaluru when I realized that there was a problem. I cannot even begin to imagine what would have happened if I would have realized that on a National Highway.
I canceled my journey and somehow reached home in that sweltering heat. Reaching home, I immediately registered a complaint on the company's web portal. They assured me that a mechanic would come by in a day at the most and look into the matter. Today is the 20th and still, no one has been sent by the office. The receipt no. for the rent is RXK-23038 and the complaint no. filed is 3492.
The more time this problem is taking, the more of my office leaves are getting wasted. I hope that you will look into the matter and take action at the earliest. I would appreciate it if you could either fix the car's air conditioning system in the next 24 hours or get a new one. Otherwise, I would have no choice but to file a complaint with the authority for the consumer's right.

Respected Sir,
I am Aayush Bhatt, a disgruntled customer of your car renting services. I live in Crossing Society, Noida city. On the 16th of June, I rented a car from the Nisha Nagar branch in Noida of your company. I have given my car currently for maintenance and since I work in New Delhi, I rented a car from your company. I distinctly remember that it was your employee at the showroom that convinced me to pay a premium for air conditioning because the heat in summers is very unbearable here. I paid the bill, signed a rental agreement and got a receipt in return. The first few days passed by without any problems. But on the 21st of June, the unfortunate incident occurred. I was going into my rental as usual when I realized I was sweating profusely.
I stopped the car under a shady tree and immediately got out of the car. I came very close to having a heat stroke. After taking some rest, I looked at what the matter was because I knew that I had switched on the air conditioning. After some time, I found the issue. Not only was the radiator broken, but the filter was also clogged. I then waited for an hour in the heat of Noida waiting for a tow truck to arrive. After that, I waited some more time for a cab.
As soon as I left the office, I went straight to the Nisha Nagar branch of your company to register a complaint. I had taken some pictures and showed them to them. I complained and they assured me that they will send a mechanic to fix the issue. But till now, your office has sent no mechanic to look into the matter. I have to take a cab to work every day now, which is taking a toll on my purse. It was due to this precise reason that I decided to rent a car in the first place.
I urge you to take a look into my problem, understand my troubles and take the necessary action at the earliest. By the provisions of the rental agreement, I am entitled to a resolution to this problem. The air conditioning system in the car needs to be fixed or replaced within the next 24 hours, whichever you can do. Otherwise, I would be forced to complain to the consumer rights authority.
