Band 8 IELTS Essay

It has been argued for a very long time that studying in one’s mother tongue helps them in scoring more. In my opinion, it's true to some extent.

Each and every individual are [proficient in their mother tongue. Thus, it makes it easier for them to learn and understand concepts when explained in their mother tongue easily. This can not only impact their academic score but enhance their overall performances. However, studying in a foriegn language can impact an individual’s ability to understand and grasp a concept of lecture. Thus, this will impact negatively on their academics and performances. For instance, individuals these days travel to English speaking countries in order to learn and study the English language. It is needless to mention that these students express their inability to understand what is being taught to them in these nations.

However, a similar and significant challenge persists if they are taught in their native tongue. These students study in their mother tongue during their school days. However, when they are enrolled into universities, these candidates are unable to understand the teaching. Since, it is carried out in the English language. Regardless of the willingness of the university to teach in the local language, they are unable to do so. This is because learning professional courses in the local language isn’t a well-defined or appropriate approach that can be adapted. For instance, if an individual from Andhra Pradesh studies medicine in their own language, it will be challenging for them to understand the same thing in English.

The fact that most scientific research is written in English and hasn't been translated into local languages is another drawback. If a learner insists on just learning in their mother tongue, this will also cause them problems. I believe that learning history or politics in one's own tongue is acceptable, but that learning science in English is always preferable. Teachers can certainly explain concepts in the students' local tongues, but the textbook should be written in a universal vernacular like English.

In summary, learning in one's native tongue will undoubtedly help children get higher test scores. Nevertheless, this can cause issues in the future, especially if scientific disciplines are taught in the mother tongue.

Band 7 IELTS Essay

Any language can be learned by a child, but the one that is used for communication the most often becomes the child's first language or mother tongue. Because of this, certain groups in society think that studying in one's home tongue, as opposed to a second language, can help one get better grades in school. I wholeheartedly agree with this idea, and I'll explain why in the sentences that follow.

To begin with, the primary reason why a child does better when taught in a regional language is that the material is simpler and easier to understand. Children are better able to retain information if the language used in the classroom is the same as the language they first learned to communicate with. For example, a recent study by the Child Psychologist Association in India found that students were able to earn higher grades in mathematics. Since, it was taught in their native language as opposed to when they were given the same instruction in a language that was not their mother tongue.

Therefore, teaching concepts in the local tongue can raise students' test performance in a variety of topics. Additionally, if things are conveyed in the local language, teaching helps more. The children learn quickly about a region's history, traditions, and customs, they will be better able to relate to what is being said. To elaborate, it can occasionally be challenging to explain words that are regionally specific in a language other than the one you speak at home. For instance, "Amritsari naan" in Punjab refers to a dish that is a specialty of Amritsar and is better conveyed in the home tongue. As a result, it may be claimed that studying in the local language can be essential for a child to discover and comprehend a region's customs.

I would like to draw the conclusion from the aforementioned justifications that the native tongue is very important in educational institutions. Although teaching other languages, such as English, is as important. It is necessary that students are able to comprehend things more clearly when speaking in their mother tongue, which ultimately improves their grades.

Band 6.5 IELTS Essay

Without a doubt, society is split into two groups based on the different mentalities of those who are in need. Because of this, it is now a pressing question whether students will perform better if instruction is conducted in their mother tongue. This essay will not only clarify both viewpoints, but it will also elaborate on my point of view towards the end.

There are a lot of things to share in this favour, to start with the first idea. First of all, pupils can study more conveniently and are more fluent in their mother tongue when they do so. Therefore, learning it will help you get knowledge in all subjects and be able to understand anything with ease. The second issue is that it is not difficult for kids to become as knowledgeable as possible about a subject in their native tongue. It becomes more challenging when such kids need to continue their education in a university setting. Parents send their children to school in English medium in order to set an example in a competitive environment. Children will experience less stress while studying as a result, and they will advance more academically.

The first point is that kids who attend school in their mother tongue will have trouble enrolling in university courses. Receiving grades would be difficult because they are learning a new language. For example, studying a language while you're young would be more beneficial than when you're a teenager. Additionally, without proficiency in English, the language of instruction, pupils are unable to interact professionally. It is therefore impossible to endorse any topic updates or challenges for people to achieve success in their lives.

In conclusion, based on my perception, I admit that learning a new language is dangerous, but it is a good skill to pick up in elementary school.
