Model Answer 1

A good leader is a person who is able to motivate his team members towards achieving objectives. I would like to talk about my best friend Raj, who has always been a great leader. Raj and I studied in the same college and have been friends for a long time. Hence, I have had the opportunity to see his leadership skills many times. He is able to lead any group with confidence and cooperative attitude.

In my college days, my friend used to participate in many college events. One such event was the annual college fair in which several games and competitions were held. Raj had participated in a quiz show. He was made the organizer of the show. He had to conduct the whole quiz, look after proper arrangements, and make sure the quiz ran smoothly. As a leader, he handled all these responsibilities efficiently. He was able to guide and direct the quiz participants in each round as per the demands of the show. Overall, the quiz happened smoothly and successfully. There were minor hiccups, which he handled through mutual cooperation and interaction, just like an able leader does. Raj was appreciated by the college management for his leadership skills and conduct that he showed during the show. He won the award of the best organizer in the fair.

Presently, Raj works as a human resource head in a large multinational company. And I have stories of his leadership in the company from him and his friends. He looks after the employee affairs of the company, like solving employee complaints, sorting conflicts at various levels of management, and providing human resource solutions to problems emerging in the company. His patience and tact while speaking with others are remarkable. Moreover, he doesn’t hold back from speaking his mind when his ideas and values are confronted by others.

I believe my friend is a great leader because he is able to direct others efficiently and also stand up for himself or his ideas when they are challenged by people. He is definitely an example to others and a good motivator.

Leaders are people who have a vision. They lead people towards achieving that vision. One such leader is the chairman and director of the company where I work; his name is Mr. Rajveer Singh. I have been working in his company for three years and have observed him closely. So I believe I can tell something worthwhile about him. Though he is 50 years old, he is known to be extremely hard-working, focused, and a tireless man. I would like to talk more about him.

Mr. Rajveer Singh started his company 30 years ago with a small capital. Then, only three people worked with him: his brother and two employees from outside his family. He always had the vision of growing his company and making it a leader in providing technological services.

To achieve his vision, he took various steps and initiatives. He made decisions that formed the future of his company. Obviously, all his decisions and initiatives were not successful, but he never gave up and went on increasing the size of his company year after year. He motivated his employees during difficult times and was an equally strict and task oriented boss when it came to getting the work done. The result of his efforts are visible to all. Today, his company is a leader in the technology industry. The company has grown many fold in size. It started with three people and today there are more than five hundred employees working for the company. He has started two branches of the company in other cities as well. This has all been possible because of Rajveer’s vision and leading people effectively towards achieving that vision.

As a person, Rajveer is a good and friendly man. He talks amiably with everyone and is helpful to them. However, when it comes to doing work he is stern and professional. He knows how to get work done from people. And that is a great quality in him because it is not easy to be friendly and professional at the same time. That’s the reason why I consider him as a good leader.

Leaders are decision-makers. They make quick decisions and take responsibility for their decisions. I would like to talk about my brother Rahul. He works as a manager in a company. He has outstanding leadership qualities, which he uses for solving problems and guiding people to do better. The best thing about him is that he takes decisions by involving all his team members and making them aware of the latest happenings in work. He has remarkable work ethics and is also a good communicator.

Whenever a decision is to be made, Rahul calls for a team meeting. There are six people working under him in his company. In the team meeting, he initiates discussion with his team members by outlining the topic of discussion. This is a good point about him because he discusses the issue at hand rather than beat around the bush. Then, he listens to the objections or suggestions of others patiently and offers his opinion. A decision is then made jointly by all the members involved in the meeting. If anyone has any objection to the decision, Rahul conducts a one-to-one meeting with that particular person and tries to explain the advantages of the decision made. He also discusses how the disadvantages of the decisions can be minimized or nullified. He doesn’t shy from taking the help of his team members whenever he finds himself unable to solve any problem or a troubling situation.

As a person, Rahul is known to be very patient and polite. He is humble by nature. He welcomes everyone’s ideas and thoughts and discusses them in detail. He sees how and where ideas can be implemented. This approach of his is well appreciated by others and the result is that they are more than willing to go to him and talk about their issues and problems. People respect him because of his humility.

Rahul is a good leader because he takes into consideration the views and opinions of everyone before taking any decision. He takes decisions based on sound logic and after considering all the pros and cons of any situation.
