Topic: Large businesses have big budgets for marketing and promotion and as a result people gravitate towards buying their products. What problems does this cause? What could be done to encourage people to buy local products?

Model Answer 1

Large businesses have big budgets for marketing and promotion which lures more people towards buying their products. Small businesses do not have the budgets for marketing for which they do not reach potential clients. People are commonly lured by what they see over television, the internet, and other places. The large businesses post advertisements everywhere. They can call up celebrities and book them for their advertisements. This lures people as their on-screen heroes are advertising for the product. This can lead to closure of local business, unemployment, and even monopoly. The local business owners can never make the business if people gravitate towards large businesses. Many business giants now operate in rural areas also. A few examples are More Supermarket, Reliance Mart, etc. These stores offer groceries and other products at a discounted rate which pulls more people towards them. This reduces the business of the local vendors and small businessmen. This can be controlled and maintained by following a few steps. It is very important to encourage the common people to buy products from the local business or shops. Store Owners should also keep a stock of local and branded products so that they can meet customer demand. The customers will go to a local business near their house only when they get their desired product. Keeping branded products will help the local business grow. The government and the banks should support the local business to grow. They can promote the local business. The business owners should bargain with the dealers regarding the price. This will help them to keep their profits and maintain the competition with the business giants. The local business owners know their customers better than the giants of the business. They can put out a survey for the products that are required by the customers. This will help them to know the demands and can put discounts on them.

Model Answer 2

The business world has grown since the start of mankind. Some businesses bloomed and some are still small. Common people who buy the products always look for offers and discounts. The large businesses make their products in large quantities and hence, they can offer more discounts than local businesses. Large businesses can do the marketing and hire more people to sell their products. They set a target that needs to be completed. Small businesses do not have these facilities. They run the business on their own after buying products from the dealer. The cost to buy or the cost price of the product increases for the local businesses. Hence, they cannot offer such discounts to the customers. This results in customers going to the large business where they get more discounts. Large businesses now run in every nook and corner of the world. They have a marketing team, and research team which marks the areas where they can flourish if they set up a new branch. This helps them to reach more people. The local business does not have the ability to do so. For example, there are small grocery stores in anyone’s locality. People go and buy groceries from them. However, if the customers are looking to buy monthly groceries, they will visit large businesses like More Supermarket, Metro cash, Carry, or D-Mart. This will allow them to get more discounts also. This can be avoided so that the local businesses do not get affected. The local business owners should talk with the distributors regarding the price. They can keep all sorts of products and offer discounts to the customers. The local business can also keep a scheme for monthly customers. This will allow them to pull customers in. The local business owners know their customers well. Hence, keeping the products that are in demand will increase the profit. I believe that by following these steps and with help from the distributors, they can flourish.

Model Answer 3

The local business owners suffered during the pandemic but the large business owners did not take that much of it. The business giants were still able to pull customers through but the local shops were closed. This is one phase of the business. The local business owners usually suffer losses when the large business owners still get to keep their customers. There are many factors that allow large business owners to maintain their sales. They give offers and discounts to the customers. Large businesses have created a brand name for themselves. People believe in the brand. Thor's marketing and sales strategies are different from those of local businesses. These factors provide them the edge over small businesses. Small businesses sometimes are not able to offer discounts to their customer. They cannot stock all the products due to the shortage of money. There are a few things that small business owners might do to promote their business and get customers. Firstly, they need to offer discounts to the customers. For this, they need to initiate a bargain with the distributors. The distributors need to provide the product at a lower cost price. This will help the business owners keep their profit margin and also offer discounts. The banks can be very useful for loans to stock the products that are in demand. Small businesses can rule out a survey in their locality. The customers can mention the products that they require the most. This will help them understand the market. The local shop owners can spread leaflets and handbills to every house stating the products and the discounts. They can also offer discounts on the amount of purchase. Hence, promotion of the business is necessary if the local business wants to increase the customer base. These factors will definitely encourage the public to buy products from local business owners.
