Band 6 IELTS Essay

We are surrounded by pets every day and they are part of our families. Aside from providing companionship, they offer emotional support, reduce stress levels, alleviate loneliness, and help us participate in social activities. As opposed to working animals, livestock, or laboratory animals, pets are kept primarily for human company or entertainment. In addition to being a pleasant hobby, pet keeping can also be a rewarding one. There are a variety of types of animals that can be kept as pets.

There are two types of pets most found in homes: dogs and cats. The purpose of keeping dogs as pets is both to like them and to protect them. Dogs are kept as pets both for liking as well as for protection. Dogs are loyal pets, ferocious against intruders, but loving and caring toward their families. The qualities of loving and faithfulness do not exist in cats. Self-care is important to them. As well as being a pleasure, pet ownership is also a challenging task and a hobby that can be difficult to give up once it is developed. They become a part of the family, a part of one's life, and one cannot give them up. It is a love that endures.

It is beneficial to own a pet for a variety of health reasons. As a result, they can provide more opportunities for exercise, getting outside, and socializing. Pets can reduce blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and triglycerides when walked or played with regularly. Our pets can provide us with companionship, which can help us cope with loneliness and depression. There is at least one pet in most American households. However, keeping pets can lead to higher risks for diseases, especially for children. In contrast, people should also consider some negative aspects. One drawback of having a pet is the increased responsibility that comes with it. When you own a dog you must take it for regular walks. It is important to train dogs, so they are safe around children.

Dogs and cats can also limit your outings - you'll have to return home to feed, let outside, and check on your pal regularly after you've been out. It may be necessary to make a lifestyle change for many people whose jobs or lifestyles don't allow them to have pets. The best time to welcome an animal into your home may not be right now if you often work overtime or 12-hour shifts. In addition, it's important to take your travel frequency and the number of times you go out to eat, go to bars, go to concerts, etc., into consideration.

The time you spend on feeding, training, exercising, and grooming a cat or dog might be pretty independent, but they still require your attention. You may need to devote even more time to a more dependent breed or a pet with a strong attachment to you. The act of adding an animal to your family is comparable to adding a child. It may take a considerable amount of time to clean up after your pet and maintain a clean house when you have a pet around. There may also be times when you are required to take time off work to care for your pet if they are sick, injured, or in need of veterinary attention. Additionally, you should consider the cost of annual exams and preventive care, such as vaccinations and spaying/neutering. If your dog or cat is diagnosed with diabetes at a young age, the cost of medication and treatment can be very high.

I believe although keeping pets can be costly, they are beneficial. In addition to providing comfort and companionship, a dog would lay down its life for its master or mistress. Fire, accidents, break-ins, and fire warnings are just a few of the many ways dogs have saved their owners' lives. It is also common for dogs to be kept protecting homes from intruders and robbers.

In addition to guarding homes against intruders and robbers, dogs are also commonly kept as guard dogs. Blind and elderly people can use service dogs like Labradors to help them with basic tasks such as crossing the street, answering the phone, collecting the mail. It is the responsibility of pet owners to maintain a clean environment by collecting and properly disposing of animal waste. News articles regularly mention neighbors being exposed to animal waste and dog barking incessantly, creating nuisance and discomfort in the neighborhood. As a result, owning a pet provides the owner with companionship and comfort, so there are fewer disadvantages than advantages. Especially for elderly persons or widowed people living alone, pets can even help prolong their lives, according to experts. Animal companions are more stimulating to young children and recluses than human companions. Being in shape is maintained by walking one's dog. Dog owners must devote time every day to walking or jogging with their four-legged pets in order to keep them fit and healthy. In addition to establishing close contact with their dogs, pet owners are also forced to exercise and stay in shape. While there are some negative aspects to owning a pet, I believe that if one is aware of his responsibility, they can offer a lot of benefits. As a result, owning a pet provides the owner with companionship and comfort, so there are fewer disadvantages than advantages.
